A to Z of yoga poses: Boat (Navasana). 1. Ab toning, 2. Digestion improving, 3. Lower back strengthening, 4. Kidney stimulating, 5. Stress relieving. 6. Pretending you're Kate Winslet on the Titanic. How's that for a six pack of benefits? #imflyingjack#comejosephineinmyflyingmachine
A to Z of yoga poses: Bird of Paradise (svarga dvijasana). My grandmother was a big personality and when she moved from California to Maine she brought with her a sense of exoticness. She was very similar to her favourite flower, so I can't help but think about, reflect on, and miss her when doing this pose. BOP is serious business, so don't jump into it without being properly warmed up. Once you are, enjoy the shoulder and hip flexibility, balance, patience, concentration, and spatial awareness it brings with it. Some day I'll be able to get my leg straight, but for now I'll take flight in whatever way I can!
A to Z of yoga poses: Bharadajas Twist (Bharadvajasana). This detoxifying, digestion improving, stress relieving, and hip, spine, core, and shoulder stretching and strengthening asana might seem a little confusing. But break it down bit by bit: one leg is in hero, the opposite leg is in lotus, and then you twist! PS Human moment: I can only do this on one side. And y'know what? That's okay!
