We are looking at strong storms today so we won’t be downtown today. Please pray for those who are in tents, in alleys or just sleeping on the streets all across our city today. These storms could not only wreck their campsites but could be dangerous too. Hail, wind and lightning are expected. As we have places to go, our thoughts are with those who don’t.
What a great day! We were able to have a small group from @rhccinstagram join us. They jumped in and cleaned showers, helped pass out kits, towels and brought goodies and treats for our friends downtown. If your small group wants to come down sometime, just let us know. We would love to meet you.
It is always so nice that when we pull up one of our homeless friends always step up to help us hook up. This helps so much as this part takes a bit especially when it’s just us. They want to help out, they want to contribute and be part of a team just like we do. It’s the best time to talk with them about their day and what is happening in their lives. We are so grateful for them.
What’s in the cart?
This cart’s owner has everything he owns under that tarp.
Up and down hills, across streets, and down alleys he pulls it along.
Nashville’s population of those experiencing homelessness is expected to rise this year. There are a number of factors involved. But regardless of their circumstances, we want to be quick to ShowerGrace, ShowerHope and ShowerLove.
A man who joined us last night came by the table after his shower. He said “thank you” and placed these coins on the table. He said he just wanted to give back. A heart of gratitude has no choice but to respond with generosity.
Last night several people made a point to say “thank you for coming down and doing this”. So touching and amazing.
Want to see what it’s all about? Your life may be changed!
Tim was wearing 2 wedding rings yesterday. Why? He married his high school sweetheart. Rebecca was everything to him. Rebecca died a few years ago and yesterday would have been their 39th anniversary. He has never gotten over losing her and on their anniversary he wears his wedding ring and her wedding ring as a tribute to the love of his life.
We love Tim! Oh and he is just about to get housing!!! We are so excited for him!!!
Sunday Funday! ShowerUp will be out under the Jefferson Street Bridge today after church. (@rhccinstagram )!! Even tho it’s gloomy and rainy, (or your TIRED from springing forward) we will still be tucked under the bridge giving showers to those who need them from 1:30-3:30. Come join us at church or under the bridge. Would love to have you!
So today is a big day for our girl, Sydnee! Here she is with all 5000+ items that she and her middle school collected for ShowerUp. ABC News is coming to film and interview her today!!! They want to feature her as someone doing cool things to make their community a better place. So proud of you, Sydnee!!!
Wow! Sydnee has a passion to help others and especially those who are poor and experiencing homelessness. She organized and rallied her middle school to collect 5,526 items and assemble them into ShowerKits!
We love seeing great young people like Sydnee stepping up and making an impact! You inspire us, Sydnee! Thank you!!!
Unfortunately, the radar doesn’t look good and we are going to be rained out for tonight.
Had a GREAT day yesterday with awesome stories of folks who have gotten jobs and cars!!

We WILL be downtown tonight! War Memorial Plaza at Capital and Union (parking is around the corner at 7th and Charlotte) from about 5:45-8:15pm.
We see Rogelio almost every Sunday and Monday. He is stubborn or so we thought. But we have learned so much more. You see he speaks only Spanish , and we learned he can’t read, not anything. He comes to us so we can show him which bottle is shampoo, which one is soap, and can we show him which is lotion and not conditioner? How hard would that be? We had a Bible in our truck and he went over and kept pointing.. he wanted it but knew he couldn’t read it. He was asking for a Spanish Bpible. We are searching for one now. We are blessed to have one of our very own volunteers who can speak full Spanish and now she communicates with him fully. His smile is a little bigger. We have gotten a little closer.
