AUS National Road Race: I lasted 10/16 laps, with the realisation setting in that competing against guys that have spent at least the last few years training solidly is a fairly difficult task.
I felt awesome 2 weeks out, but a sickness riddled lead up may have affected my performance on the day, although I’m still unsure as to how much.
My gear on the day was 16/16, with notable mentions to my @huntbikewheels that are hilariously fast, my @4iiiicom power meter that never misses a beat, or should I say Watt, the revolutionary @maurten_official electrolyte/carb drink that allows you to essentially go whole races without eating and @vegan.athletic for the most stealthy speedsuit ever worn.
The only problem I’ve got with my new @huntbikewheels is that my training loops are being completed too quickly 😂 These 36-50 tubeless ready carbon clinchers with a 27mm wide U profile rim, aero spokes and a fast engaging freehub are literally the only wheel you need. You can feel them cutting through the air and crosswinds with no handling difficulties, and they’re super stiff when cornering and sprinting above 1000 watts. The guys at @huntbikewheels have the best customer experience and general attitude I’ve seen with any cycling industry company, so go check them out and give them a follow as I’m sure they’re going to be doing some big things in the future. 🚲
4hrs 45mins, 122km, 2351m Elevation Gained, 245 TSS, 242watts avg... and not one power dropout. When the Tour of Bright was cancelled due to a severe incoming storm I decided to get in as big and difficult of a training day as I could. In the past my power meters haven’t been able to keep up with the demands of such rides, dropping out due to interference, water breaching the battery door or simply bad connection with my @garmin .. However my new @4iiiicom PRECISION power meter is completely flawless. Cycling is hard enough without having to fix your power meter throughout your rides! If you’re in the market for a new power meter or your putting up with your current one dropping out or doing weird stuff then I highly recommend getting one from 4iiii #PoweredBy4iiii#PoweredToWiiiin -(NOT SPONSORED)-
(Not Sponsored) I’ve been sipping on @maurten_official this past week, it’s a super high carbohydrate electrolyte drink, 40g or 80g of carbs/500ml. It goes in as a liquid and forms as a semi solid gel in your stomach so that you don’t get stomach upset. I used the 80g over 3 hours yesterday with no food and no problems, it’s gonna be a game changer for me on long rides and races. Check them out, it’s pretty underground atm but also being used by all the top long distance runners 😉 📷 @pargyrop
I’ve raced as a junior once or twice on a TT bike but never trained on one, this is the first time 😂 With a 13km TT coming up in a race next month, @shauntheunicorn set me up on his rig so I can minimise the losses 🚴🏽♂️💨
Stage 2 MTCM: 10x5km hilly circuit with plenty of pain. It’s funny how riders can play games but if you try counter their game they loose their 💩 📷 thanks @jahnnieboy / @fruit4jam .. & @highcarbvegans for coming out to support
Post Stage 1 MTCM: I have never experienced recovery like I do now with just eating 🌱 After each stage, within 10minutes I’d have a banana x 2/3, almond milk, sunflower seeds, broccoli, maple syrup & ice smoothie followed by a big plate or two of rice and veg an hour or two later as well as heaps of water. I was blown away with how my body has been recovering and it’s something I’ll continue sticking to🚴🏽💨 📷 thanks @jahnnieboy / @fruit4jam
(Not Sponsored.. Just Cool) Meet the @airhub_cycle a front wheel hub that provides smart varying resistance depending on your desired power or heart rate. You can climb hills without going uphill, hit headwinds without any breeze, TT without the dangerous speeds or ride harder than the easy bunch whilst sitting in & slower friends. It’s adjustable on the fly with their mobile app and 4 training modes. Check it out and give them a follow to see what they have in store for the future! 🚴🏽💨
