AHH, it is the first day of spring!!! 💐🌷🌹🌼🌺🌞 At least technically. Allow me to reminisce on the beautiful cherry blossoms 🌸 in my old home city from last year while I sit bundled up in my new home city and the east coast becomes one big puddle of frozen slush🙅🏻♀️❄️ WHY!! What the hecking heck!!! What even is this!! Sorry if it seems like I complain a lot. That’s only because I complain a lot.
Would you rather live on a lake 🏞 or on the ocean 🌅? I grew up going to the Great Lakes of Minnesota in the summers and am freakishly OBSESSED with the serenity of lakes. Switzerland is one of the most amazing countries on this beautiful planet 😍😍 Don’t @ me.
Happy St Paddy’s day! ☘️ This is Arizona, not Ireland, because I’m not Irish and I’ve never been to Ireland. BUT ALL THAT WILL CHANGE in t-minus 6 weeks from TODAY 🇮🇪 I’ll have a Guinness or two today to celebrate 🎉
Woohoo 🎉 it’s FFF (Fun Fact Friday of course, for anyone new). Today’s Fun Fact is about Amsterdam and its famous canals. Amsterdam has 165 canals that stretch for a total of 60 miles (100 kilometers), canals that are home to about 2500 houseboats! If you’ve ever been you know how unique and magical this city is. 💫 🚲
My visit here was also the only time I’ve ever been carded in Europe. At least the guy was nice about it. In America I deal with a lot of angry and aggressive bouncers/bartenders/liquor store cashiers, and a lot of “you don’t look a day over 18 honey” while they study my ID and get three more opinions on its validity from their coworkers. I’ve even been denied entry into bars 🙄 It has happened almost every time for the past 5 years. I don’t know what to tell these people. Sorry that I have the face of a cherub and am shorter than most 12 year olds, but I swear a glass of the wine I’m trying to buy will give me a hangover until 5pm tomorrow 🍷 🤢
Two of my favorite things: beer, and really weird wall art that I don’t understand the meaning behind. Asheville, NC is also known as Beer City, USA because it has the most breweries per capita of any city in the country! 🍺🍻 If that’s not a good enough reason to visit, I don’t know what is 🤷🏻♀️
If you didn’t take a picture in the Bean, did you even go to Chicago? (answer: yes. I went to Chicago yesterday and didn’t get a picture in the Bean. This is from the summer back when the trees and grass weren’t dead and neither was my soul). #springwhereyouat
🤔 Don’t ask me why but I am kind of offended that most people who voted in my story’s poll prefer New York style pizza over Chicago style 🍕 My whole story is dedicated to how much I love Chicago and its pizza, and no one agrees with me 🤦🏻♀️ I want to say you’re wrong, but then again I also want to promote diversity and the tolerance of different opinions (I guess). More deep dish for me bitches, it’s fine. Because y’all are all about New York today, here’s a shot from a rainy New York day last spring 🏙🌧🌸 Hope everyone’s Monday has been anything but gloomy, even those who don’t share my love for deep dish.
I won’t lie, today was not easy 😞 I’ve been dealin with the same ole injuries for almost 2 years now, am in terrible shape, and even this short 5k was painfully and pitifully slow 🙅🏻♀️ But I’m thankful for any opportunity to race and run through one of my favorite cities in the world 🏙 (if you haven’t been, visit Baltimore. You’ll be surprised by its charming character). What are you up to this Sunday?
I LOVE THIS STREET. It is like a pastel painting and I am all about the pastels, except when they’re on a frat boy’s shorts 🙄 Here’s a fun fact for your Friyay: Heidelberg, Germany is home to the biggest wine barrel 🍷 in the world 🌍, holding 220,000 liters (that’s almost 60,000 gallons). That’s a shit ton of wine, and also a really fun fact. Hope your Friday is as beautiful as you are!! 😘😉
Happy International Women’s Day! 🎉🎉🎀 I feel so lucky and proud to be a part of a group of billions of strong, determined, stalwart, and resilient individuals all across the world, today and everyday!! 👭👭👭 I love each and every one of you. Here I am in Budapest. My hair is a mess because it had been up in a bun all day since it was 90 DAMN DEGREES and I am prone to sweating my butt off in even the slightest heat 🔥😓 Not very womanly of me, but let’s encourage all women to break gender norms today 👊🏼
Scenes from the streets of Hoi An’s Ancient Town. I fell in love with how bright and yellow everything was! 💛 I’m pretty sure this was taken after my 57th banh mi. I just wrote a post about my favorite town in Vietnam so check it out if you’re bored as heck and have nothing better to do☝🏼
Easily one of THE BEST things about traveling to new places is seeing all the stunning architecture 😍 Brussels has some of the best I’ve ever seen! Why don’t we have buildings like this in America? Which city’s architecture is your favorite?
It is Saturday and the ridiculous winds 💨 in Baltimore have not stopped, and neither has my nostalgia for Hoi An 😍 I was traveling on my own here so I used the camera timer on my iPhone to capture this *super candid* photo with my *super sexy* fanny pack. When you’re backpacking 🎒 you’re pretty much obliged to embrace the fanny pack life. It keeps your hands free for activities, plus it looks extremely cool!!! 😝
Here’s a little comething to *brighten up* your Friday (lol, get it? get it??) Hoi An, Vietnam is probably best known for its lantern-lined streets and its monthly lantern festival 🏮 I was so confused by this town because it is freakishly touristy; especially at night, when the lanterns light up, you find yourself elbowing tourists out of the way and still getting trampled to death ☠️ It is no joke, and it is the one place EVERYONE, young and old, goes in Vietnam. Still, though, SOMEHOW, this is one of my favorite places I’ve ever visited (sue me for being unoriginal) 🤷🏻♀️ These colorful, traditional lanterns, which have been made in the town for over 400 years, are just one aspect that makes Hoi An seem totally magical ✨ It seriously draws you in and makes you never want to leave. ❤️🧡💛💚💜 Have you visited Hoi An and what were your thoughts on this overly touristy, but completely amazing, town?
Reminiscing on my favorite hotel I’ve ever had the privilege of staying at, which had views of my favorite volcano 🌋 every way you turn. IT IS A REAL GEM. Read my latest post to learn more about it! Link in bio! 🙃
Beer and bread in beautiful places 🍺🍞🌿 One of my favorite things is trying new beers when I go to new countries. This Costa Rican pale ale was delicious and the volcano and jungle as our backdrop made it even better 😍
Happy Saturday!! I am posting this because I was SUPPOSED to be in Phoenix, Arizona 🌵 right now running a marathon but instead I am at home in rainy Baltimore nursing my godawful broken knee 😭😭😭 So here I am after hiking Camelback Mountain last year. I so miss those mountains ⛰ What are your plans for the weekend?
