We're delighted to celebrate all of the #ChildLifeSpecialist this #ChildLifeMonth , including our own Jess Doletzky, who leads North Star Reach’s OutReach program, serving children at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, Beaumont Children's, Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, and Children's Hospital of Michigan. Thank you Jess, our Child Life camp volunteers, and all the professionals offering kids and families a little magic in the hospital. #northstareach#seriousfuncamps
We’re in search of someone with American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification to help us train/re-certify lifeguards for the upcoming summer season. Please contact Patrick (firstname.lastname@example.org or 734-680-8744) if you know someone who can help. (This photo from last summer's Sickle Cell/Hematology/Pain Management Camp features Nate, one of our all-star Seasonal Activity Staffers, with 9-year-old Taurean.)
“Fitting in is when you want to be a part of something. Belonging is when others want you.” That’s how a group of middle school students responded when best-selling author, social worker, and researcher @brenebrown asked them the difference between fitting in and belonging. This mirrors what campers and their families tell us about their experiences at North Star Reach: even just a few days at camp provides them with a sense of “true belonging.” #northstarreach#findyourcampfire#seriousfuncamps#truebelonging
When asked what the most important thing about camp is, one camper said, “Everyone had some sort of idea of what I went through.” We are honored that we can provide a space where children with serious health challenges can meet peers with similar strengths & challenges. To our Instagram followers: We’d love to hear what you find most important about camp. #northstarreach#seriousfuncamps#whycampmatters
Back in December, we asked our fans to “round up” the adorable stuffed moose on sale around town. We’re thrilled to announce that our huggable herd has grown to more than a dozen. Thank you, moose wranglers! One of our campers, Emily (pictured here with Patrick, our Camping Director), recently delivered one of our newest herd members. However, despite adult supervision, a few moose have escaped. Visit link in our profile for full report. #lovethemooseness#northstarreach#seriousfuncamps
This is what #professionaldevelopment looks like when the #acanat18 takes place at Disney Meetings Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Make no mistake, it really is a rigorous conference, with four-plus days packed with educational presentations and events. We can’t wait to hear about our team’s experiences and to apply what they’ve learned to improve our camp programs. (Looking good, Meiko, Jess, and Patrick!)#northstarreach#seriousfuncamp

Start your application today to give your child an opportunity to enjoy a summer camp experience like Nathan’s (link in profile). As Nathan’s Dad, Mark, shared with us, his son “loved everything about NSR….He is already looking forward to next year’s camp. Thank you again staff, counselors, volunteers, and everyone else who makes this camp possible for all these kiddos.” This photo features Nathan (far right) and his friends from Cabin 9 (Dominic, Owen and Malaki) during last summer’s Cardiology Camp closing ceremony. #seriousfuncamps#northstarreach#powerofplay
On this National Spaghetti Day, we celebrate a beloved camp tradition with an epic look back at some of our favorite no-hands’ spaghetti dinners. Last summer alone, we consumed 225 lbs. of spaghetti, 50 lbs. of meat, and 100 lbs. of @newmansown sauce. Be sure to check out a terrific video by @constant_motion_productions by clicking the link in our Profile. Enjoy!
