For #flashbackfriday I’m going wayyy back. This is a photograph of my grandfather, Zygment,(driver) a day after the hurricane of 1938 crossed #longisland . You can tell by his passengers attire that they are wealthy meadow lane home owners, surveying what may be left of their summertime residences. His #beach car is a #durant star or #starcar probably from the mid twenty’s (production of this #coupe ceased in 1928). Now this is pre four wheel drive, and to make these light cars able to drive on the beach, the rear fender was removed and larger tires were put in the rear to slow the rotation of the wheel and allow the car to drive almost effortlessly on the soft sand. Check the wood spoke wheels and oversized whitewalls 🤤and the rust bleeding patina on the panels. My (rather long)bucket list would be to find a Durant and replicate this beachmobile and drive it in #theraceofgentlemen#trog a boy can dream can’t he? 😏#hotrod#ratrod#fbf#vintage#photography
Tonight's #tbt I'm throwing some positivity to the #isladelencanto . I've had some of my most memorable experiences with great friends and I hope to see the island bounce back twice as strong. Hang tough #puertorico 💪🏻🇵🇷 #puertoricolohacemejor . Also, my thoughts go out to the rest of the #caribbean and to #mexicocity whom all have been devastated by natural disasters.
