I heard this today and was immediately struck. How often do we approximate greatness? How often do we forgo realizing who we endeavor to be? I realized that I’ve been living in an approximation for a while. I know everything I need to know to manifest my best life, right now. This doesn’t mean that I know everything. I am a beginner in all things and a forever student. What I mean is that I have all the answers I need right now for this moment and for these dreams. Time to step in. #manifestthatshit#randommeditations#yogisofinstagram#yogagram#yogateacherlife#selfactualization
Here’s to voting for candidates who embrace diversity. Here’s to unseating every racist, homophobe, anti-immigrant, islamaphobe, patriarchy-protecting misogynist possible. #timesup#downwiththepatriarchy
One of the many reasons I love my campus is because we have this beautiful Japanese garden with meditation spot. As kids move between buildings, they pass a bit of serenity. And the garden is always maintained and undamaged. ❤️ This yin space amidst lively youth-filled yang energy is something I’ve been cultivating more and more in my life. I’m allowing myself time for growth, for healing, for development, and for quiet. I find myself reaching out to nature more and longing to feel its beauty all around me. I also know that I really want to hop on a plane this weekend to go almost literally anywhere. I’m reframing this as an itch. Am I willing to sit with that itch? That is the focus of my yin yoga classes. Are you willing to sit with the desire to release the pose, sit with not knowing if you’re doing something perfectly, sit with your breath? Come practice this with me this week or consider traveling with me this summer (info is in my bio). #zen#joblove#yoga#yinyoga#yogalife#yogaretreat#restorativeyoga
Throwback to that time when mom and I did Newport Beach together. It was the second time she’d come out to Cali with me. The first was for Joie’s confirmation and to discover San Diego, where I was living at the time, and this picture was the day before my Big Haute Cali Wedding. I was fortunate to have traveled with mum as an adult 3 times. I remember walking along the Caribbean Sea in Mexico with her when Joie was just a wee thing. I’d hoped to get Mom abroad again, but it didn’t work out that way. Alas, I’m left solely with memories, but I’m so blessed to have good ones!!! Thank you to all who sent well wishes and flowers, and came to celebrate mom’s life. I know there were many who wanted to be there or do something, but couldn’t. Your love was felt! I’m so thankful that Fr. Bob Flick —one of my favorite humans— was able to do the blessing and commendation; that mom’s besties were able to make it from Dallas, Port Arthur and DeQuincy; I was able to end the evening with good friends and my brother, sister-in-law, & teeny nieces; and that Carlos & Misael made sure I had the makings for sangria all day. It is a testament to how great of a mom she was that my siblings and I never bickered throughout the entire week. We hunkered down in love and stayed there as we weathered the storm.
To answer the question of how I’m doing, I’m doing well. Mom seeded strength in us; though it’s surreal her physical self is gone, her spirit isn’t. I’m just happy that her legacy was a happy one—not everyone gets that. #memories#lovemymom#life
I initially planned not to come to work today, but I came because grades are due and I needed to make sure they were correct... Even in the worst of times, when coping with the loss of my mother, my kiddos remind me why I teach. Gracias a mis estudiantes lindos. Los adoro un montón!! #joblove#beststudentsever#valentinesday#whyiteach#teachersofinstagram
