Ever so slowly inching out of hibernation! 😅 It has been close to 2 months of me not painting due to terrible morning sickess. Im slowly feeling like myself again, finally! And Im breaking the spell with something light and easy, my #bacolodshopfrontseries !! I'll be loosely sketching and painting iconic local shopfronts around the city. :) Kicking the series off with two popular chinese shops: Hua Kong Chinese Drug Store and City Lunch! 😅 Got ang suggestions? Hit me up!
Both paintings SOLD! 😄
Sooo I just discovered the watercolorist Nita Engle from a book I ordered. Her techniques are unconventional, but man oh man the effects are so cool! and surprisingly realistic. 😱❤ Cant wait to learn more! Did this quick painting inspired by her. Im crazy about the wee liwtle boat floating serenely in the miwdle 😂
Quick painting of Shek-o Beach in Hong Kong. 🏝⛱🏖 I honestly never thought of HK having beaches! 🤔😅 I always think of the touristy spots (hello, Disneyland!). Anyway, this was a pleasant surprise. ❤ Thank you @siomai.mai for sending me the pics! 😙
13 watercolorists. 14 exhibit days. 17 sold paintings (and counting 😉). 72 bears. 😄 We made it! We started the year as a random group of people who had few things in common except for a fierce love of watercolor, now we just closed our first successful group show. 😊 Unexpected friendships truly are the best. Cheers to us! It's bilao time! Lol
What's with the bears? A portion of our sales went to the SM Bears of Joy Project. Half of the bears will be given to SM's chosen beneficiaries, and the other half we get to handover to our chosen local charity. ❤❤❤
Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen!!
Today was good ❤ I think it was just last Tuesday that the group decided to have this Watercolor Weekend event, so we would have some sort of activity during our Diri sa Amon exhibit. And a lot of our visitors were asking about watercolors so we thought we could create an afternoon dedicated to teaching demos! We decided to just wing it, thinking just a few people would show up. But man were we shocked to see the crowd! Haha We had no mic, no screen, too few tables and chairs! We just made up for it with a LOT of enthusiasm and our eagerness to share what we know. ❤ It was cramped but everybody had a great time! By the end of the session everybody was talking to each other and the overall vibe was just chill. THIS is why we do this. For the sense of community watercolor brings. It's so nice meeting other watercolor junkies! We had no idea there are so many of us in our little city! 😂 Hope to see more next time! Cheers! 🍻
Lookie Bacolod peeps! :) We're having a series of capsule classes this saturday to show u the basics. 1pm to 4pm ;) register ahead at our table at the Diri sa Amon Watercolor Exhibit at the 2nd flr of SM City Bacolod Northwing. Hope to see you! Bring your own materials! :)
Tomorrow is THE day. ❤ I've joined several group exhibits before but I have never been so invested- physically and emotionally like this. Truly a passion project- there's no other term more fitting. Maybe it's because the theme is dear to me, maybe it's because I've found my home in watercolors, and my place in my Tampisaw group.❤ Tomorrow I open with just three pieces but I poured my soul into each one ❤ Happy and thankful. 🙇
Diri sa Amon (In Our Place)
A Watercolor Exhibit of All Things Negros.
Nov. 5 to 19, 2017
2nd flr Northwing SM City Bacolod
Our art tambays have come to fruition! We're finally having our first group exhibit. Diri sa Amon is a showcase of everything we love about our hometown of Negros. We unveil our works on Nov. 5 (Cinco de Noviembre, of course!). Show will run until the 19th at the 2nd level of SM City Bacolod. 😄 Our exhibit is endorsed by no less than IWS Philippines and PWG (International Watercolor Society and Phil Watercolor Guild). How crazy is that?! 😱 Dream come true, definitely! Thank you Lord!
