Charcoal sourdough, raspberry jam. 〰 I'm currently doing what's know an a gluten challenge-- basically eating gluten despite my intolerance in order to get an accurate Celiac panel done. I'm not having very much fun so far, and I've still got a week and a half more. 🤕🤒
In just under a month I am going to be embarking on a new adventure! I will be going back to school and although I’m excited to start something new and something creative it has been hard to let go of the familiar. It’s been hard not to hold on tight to the comfort of something I know so well and have been doing for the last 2.5 years! Lots of changes ahead for my old role but have to remind myself that I’m not going that way🙈
Throughout my shoot with @kinahelena , we were constantly blasted with freezing winds. It got so bad that I seriously began considering turning back around going home. It was only until we made it to the falls did it click in my head.
“Man is affected, not by events, but by the view he takes on them.” -Epictetus
The Stoic philosophers (like Epictetus) believed, that “bad things” were only actually bad for us if we decided to see them as bad. There is value in training ourselves to see the opportunity in every obstacle. Rather than dwelling on the negative consequences of something bad, we should focus our attention on the new opportunities that come along with the negative experience. A lot of this can take the form of learning more about ourselves.
Life will always throw “freezing winds” on your way up your mountain. You can choose to give in to the circumstances around happening around you, or you can choose to focus on how YOU respond when the winds blow against you.
