Tonight I have the great privilege to host the YouthWorks Career Center “Open Mic”. Back in the day it was always “just a dream” or “thought” of being able to get up on stage and perform, now it’s my week to week life! I am so excited to be able to witness these teens along their journey and to see who has the passion to ignite their path to the next level!

Great conversations took place over lunch today. Many western MA leadership & social justice organizations are designing ways to mobilize our youth so all voices that impact our future are heard. LY2 is about embodying leadership.
Leadership is an ongoing practice that impacts all walks of life. As
Bob Dunham from Institute for Generative Leadership says, “leadership is a performance art”, ongoing recurrent practices.
It impacts the world we live in, including our land & all people.
We believe we are what we practice so being intentional about life design is important
We are teaming up with local social justice organizations & coalitions to explore with & educate today’s youth, our future leaders, on issues of racism, gender bias, proactive environmental care and food justice through our embodied leadership approach.
This includes expanding emotional literacy, increasing whole body learning capabilities & applying generative language to produce an impactful future.
Stay tuned for more on our affiliates & alliances.
Join us for our teen leadership programming starting 3/14. Check out leadyourselfyouth.org for logistics & details.

Hit another milestone today. As a student in a school filled with smarty pants and goodie two shoes, I was never anywhere. I was just trying to survive the 5 years in one piece 😝 So to be given an opportunity like today, to speak in front of the entire clan of SBP heads for a good 2 hours was really something I would remember forever. Was so impressed with the students, some communicate even better than us working adults. Our nation will be fine if these kids turn up to be our leaders. I'm a proud SBP product. Thank you so much @alamshah_jaya for having me.

Lately, I’ve been working with a group of ladies on a choreography workshop. These movers and shakers have been studying 5 women artists in history whose work shaped our world. 👩🏽🎨💪🏼🌎 Each of these women’s beautiful work and stories have inspired a new phrase of movement.
Who are your mentors? Maybe you can name a few who have influenced you directly in your everyday life. What about a historical mentor who influences you through the inspiration of who they were in a certain time and a certain place? I was asked this at our recent pre-departure orientation. I have a few...the first one is Madeleine L’Engle. What a lady artist! Actress, writer, mother, woman of faith. Who are your historical mentors? I’d love more inspo!

Young people are not only the literal future of this country but our best and brightest hope for real change. Emma González (pictured) embodies all that is bold and beautiful about our youth, the power of their collective agency and voice - which we so desperately need to listen to and support at this hour - and beyond.
