| B’STILLA MY THRILLAH |
Remember the slow roasted chicken I made “tajine style”? @sheedahdee 😜 It was só good I had to make one of my favorite Moroccan dishes; B’stilla or Pastilla. Not that I looked at any recipes, but I eat it enough to know ..I guess 🤣
Got the chicken leftovers and made them into smaller pieces, pulled chicken style, mixed it with the leftover sauce. Also mixed pieces of the last date in to it ..this sounds horrific, you know I’m talking about the dried fruit right?! 😳There wasn’t that much chicken left so also added some small white mushrooms, the ones you often see in Asian kitchen ..because I was thinking of English chicken pie. Seems logic right haha 🙃 And added some green peas because I was also thinking of Surinam pastries (pastei). That’s what I love about living in this part of Rotterdam; so many cultures and their food to discover! ❤️🙌 #rotterdamwest#westisbest .
Got some defrosted filo, brushed melted butter on one side and put them together; so it’s 2 buttery layers of filo pastry. You can use a plate or some shallow bowl to keep the shape while filling it. First put some almonds, then the chicken mixture followed by some pears. Unfortunately the quinces where finished, so I made this with regular pear that I baked with some butter, cinnamon, lil bit of salt, sugar and orange blossom water. .
Fold the sides so it’s closed, do this by brushing some more melted butter .. and well some on top too! You want it golden and your toppings still on there right 😏
This one is with sesame and Celtic sea salt. Made another one with almonds, nigella seeds and chilly flakes. With this one I left out the pear so it’s easier to keep it crisp for later 🤓
