Our ships left the shore together, but in the opposite directions. We were seekers, bound to explore this giant space rock. We always knew, there would come a time when we would have to take seperate paths. But I never realised that time was passing so swiftly, until that day, when our ships left the shore. We silently weeped as we shared our final goodbyes, for we knew it would never be the same. But we shared a promise, to come to the decks and see each other every time our ships went around the world and crossed paths.
Everything has changed since then. I had quite a few adventures, some pretty, others not so. The sea gave me a lot of new perspectives, and also took away a few old ones. The Sea Gods have tested my spirit, and they still do from time to time. But I haven't fallen yet, and I'm sure I never will. The hope to see you has been secretly giving me the strength to keep going.
When I realised that our ships had sailed across the globe, and it was finally time to see you again, my heartbeats rose like never before. At first I thought maybe I was seasick, but of course, I was just a dumb sailor who was in love. I had so many stories to tell you, and many more to hear from you too. I've had been having you in my prayers everyday, just like you might had been having me in yours. I ran towards the deck, and I finally saw your ship, far away, sailing towards me as the sun was setting beyond the horizon. Ignoring the beautiful sunset, my heart only sought for you and my eyes only saw the deck of your ship.
But alas, my love, I never saw you on the deck. Regardless, I stood still, not losing even a bit of my hope, eagerly waiting to see your face. But within moments, our ships passed each other, and again sailed away. I wondered why you did not come to see me. Did the tides prove to be stronger than our love, or have the Sea Gods taken you away from me? My heart aches, but your love has kept me hostage in my own skin.
So I stand on the deck again today, just like every other time our ships pass each other once in a few years, hoping that this time, I'd get to see your pretty face.
