Built To Last: I have always been intrigued by the wines of @hanzellfarm . Perhaps it’s due to the fact that every bottle I had experienced to date was from a prior decade (80’s, 90’s, or 00’s). When I recently learned I was missing out on a “wine night” in Tahoe, @janartphoto did what any true wine friend would do and offered to capture the moment. He filled a sample bottle (a trick I’ve been sharing for years), sealed it and made sure it arrived in Napa shortly after. Thanks @bjoyous for handling the delivery. The 2010 is certainly young, yet enticing and nuanced. The wine simply needed time to open in the glass before hitting its stride. The bright acidity and firm tannins offered an intricate dance that was savory and simply delicious. I always love how wine is shared and my hope is that I’ll be doing just that with many, many more past & future vintages of Hanzell. Don’t miss your shot to do the same!
The first vines of Hanzell were planted in 1953. Chardonnay from the Wente Clone and Pinot Noir from the Matin Ray Clone. Over the years, these vines have evolved and ultimately created a distinct Hanzell clonal selection. The Ambassador's Vineyard, is the oldest continually producing vineyard of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the New World (65 yrs of world class California grape growing). 🔹🔹🔹
The house style is consistent and has always been Burgundian in style. French oak and stainless-steel tanks.
Hanzell Chardonnays often hold up for 20 years or more. Their Pinot Noir also has a staying power that begs to be cellared!

Before wine, Steve had a successful career in the music industry as a singer, booking agent, and studio producer. His passion for music began with an obsession with David Bowie, and has stuck with him ever since
Australian winemaker Penfolds has collaborated with Saint-Louis on a project that celebrates the winery’s latest release: a limited edition series of its 2012 Grange. Launched this month, the vintage arrives in an impressive bottle (a hefty six litres, as its Imperial badge would suggest) and is accompanied by a specially designed crystal decanter
Red wine and friends ❤️ ⠀
This is a Jeff Carrel, Grenache/Carignan/Syrah, 2015 from Languedoc, France by the glass at The Commodore in Saint Paul. ⠀
Red wine is best in the cold winter and pairs well with most winter foods. ⠀
Carignan is found in southern France, in the Languedoc region. It’s also a staple grape in Spain, but this one is from France. ⠀
Syrah, also referred to as Shiraz in Spanish, is a dark skinned grape often grown in the Rhône valley and Walla Walla in Washington State. ⠀
It is a full bodied, soft tannin, and jammy fruit taste. ⠀
Grenache is a spicy, berry flavor producing grape. It needs a hot climate to grow so it’s found in southern France and Spain.
I highly recommend this blend! ⠀
Almost time to get those plump grapes off the vines. There's never a dull moment this time of year - a hive of activity, everyone working together, meticulously checking and then checking again to make sure we can bring you the highest quality wines.

Littorai, Pinot Noir, Platt Vineyard, Sonoma Coast
In 2003, the Lemons purchased a thirty acre farm in western Sonoma County. This property was chosen for its unique potential to demonstrate a different future for winegrowing. The property is modeled on Rudolf Steiner’s vision of an integrated farm. The goal is to produce as many of the farm and vineyard needs on site as possible in a manner harmonious with and respectful of the surrounding environment and wildlife. Eight acres of the property are woods and streams, never to be developed. Fourteen acres are open pasture dedicated to providing a home for the cows and hay which form the basis of our compost. One quarter of these pasturelands are re-sown with legumes, grains and grasses every year. Only natural teas and compost are applied to maintain their vigor. We are re-establishing native evergreen oak grasslands on three additional acres, removing invasive species on two more and restoring Redwood forests to the stream banks.
In April of 2015, Littorai received the prestigious Environmental Stewardship Award by United States Congressman Jared Huffman.
Lunch with #winemaker Bruce Cakebread: epic food paired w/ #cakebread wines, lovely banter on #winemaking#foodtrends & keeping it in the family. Fondue for two. If you’re dipping into a decadent fondue, try our Small Lots Viognier to cut through the richness with its lively notes of peach, red apple and a delicate touch of floral on the finish. #sandhillwines 📷: Claire Koning
Homage to #Pinotage 🍷my biggest takeaway from my trip to South Africa last year was the exploration of this hybrid grape native to the country. @fmcwine's Petit Pinotage is medium bodied with crisp red berry notes and soft tannins and pairs perfectly with my nails, as you can see. Stop by @pierrelotiwinebar in Chelsea to play around with South African wines and enter for a chance to win a trip to SA too ✈️ @wosa_usa #wine#sponsored#SAwineproject#drinkSA photo: @cc4prezi
