Today’s message is about a lesson I’m still learning. After a week of neglecting my self-care routines, I find myself unable to show up in my world in the way I want.
I have work to do, and I can’t seem to complete a sentence. I want to connect to my family, but I find myself snapping at them instead. I know my body needs exercise, yet I can’t seem to find the time or energy to do it. I’m distracted easily, and I’m catching myself on social media more than usual. Once again, I’m learning why it’s not ok to put myself last.
Here are the things that I know are essential to my well-being: meditation and journaling, eating well, exercise, drinking plenty of water, 7+ hours of sleep each night, connection time with my husband and my kids.
When I get these in on a regular basis, I can show up for my life in a way that feels good to me. I have enough energy to get things done. I’m emotionally grounded so I can deal with whatever comes my way. I’m able to be present with my loved ones.
Putting our needs last ultimately doesn’t serve anyone. Our husbands want us to be happy. Our kids need us to take care of ourselves. We are the emotional regulators for our whole family and when we're happy, it radiates out and affects everyone. We deserve to live with energy, vitality and excitement. We can’t do that when we’re barely surviving the day!
So, back to the drawing board for me. Lesson learned – again.
What about you? What’s essential for your well-being? Do you need a new beginning? Start today! What can you do to nourish your body, your mind and your spirit? How can you fit it into your day? Let me know!

HEAR ME PLEASE... When you look back on your life you will not want to reminisce on how the scale validated you!
You will desire to think on how Christ moved in your life. The answered prayers. The dinners at your table. The friends you had. Your family and what truly matters.
None of us as women want our worth to wrapped up solely in our outward image. Yet... day by day we struggle and toil to shed the last 10 pounds, to fit in a different size. We starve ourselves, deprive ourselves, shame ourselves and worse yet we are teaching the young women around us to do the same.
I am ALL for health and wellness. That’s just it though, health and wellness, not size, number or scale victories.
I am after peace in Christ. The peace within that says right now I am enough because of my Savior. I am looking for the peace that tells me I am loved just as I am, so much so, that He pushes me to progress even further.
Hear me sweet ladies... YOUR WORTH IS NOT FOUND IN THE SCALE!
This sounds so silly right? Yet, day after day when I ask women how often they weigh theirselves, I hear the same answer; “Everyday, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day.” This tells me the scale and the number we see is the idol of our hearts.
God clearly has told us “Thou shalt have NO other god before me.” Put the scale away! There are much better ways to access your progress😉
Join me in April to learn more about FREEDOM from the diet culture, the scale and more!
You are worth it!
