"Watches in Movies" Countdown
At #10 , The @panerai Pre-Vendome Luminor Marina PVD 5218/203-A
Film: Eraser (1996)
In the mid 1990’s most people in the watch world hadn’t heard of Panerai. That changed because of Sylvester Stallone. In 1995 when he was preparing for a role in the movie “Daylight”. Long story short, Sly ran into the Panerai Luminor in a jewelry shop in Rome to find a watch for his character. He fell in love with Panerai and actually bought several of these watches and gifted them to his friends, most notably, Arnold Schwarzenegger who then wore the watch in his movie Eraser.
While Stallone did wear this watch in Daylight, the 5218/203-A was featured prominently on screen in Eraser with several close ups. The movie itself made 242.3 million at the box office (Arnold's 7th highest grossing film) and arguably introduced Panerai to a whole new generation.
The watch itself is 44mm, and features a Unitas 6497. Only 200 of this model were made and today it's one of the most sought-after Panerai models. 📷 Homageforum.com 👈
