After resting yesterday, and then tons of fun today, I needed some solo running time, and because it was late I kind of had to go with the treadmill. But rather than be grumpy about it, I’m happy I have one so I can run late at night or when the weather isn’t awesome. After pushing myself hard, and ending up with achy knees on my last couple runs, today was just about getting some miles in. I ran most of the time, and walked when I had to, but wahoo I was able to go 5 whole miles with zero pain 🙌🏼!! Here’s to fresh starts, and moving forward to hopefully more pain-free runs 👊🏼! [251.7/1000 miles]
Making the best of an unplanned outcome. Shane had spent his own money buying tickets to go see @andygrammer only to find out that no one under 18 was allowed. The refund didn’t make up for the sadness. So, at a movie #lovesimon#andygrammer
Post-run smoothie today was a healthy matcha shamrock shake thanks to my @brandywinecoffeeroasters matcha powder and yet another winning recipe from @minimalistbaker ☘️ Sláinte! [Recipe link in profile - I just added 1 frozen banana for extra nutrients 😊] #brandywinecoffeeroasters#bcrtea#minimalistbaker#vegan#veganrunner
Matcha increases energy levels and endurance, helps to enhance mood & concentration, and reduces joint pain and inflammation (among other benefits!). Avoid already sweetened powders & go for a pure powder like this one from BCR, originating in Hioki, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan.
Those fresh garden greens! 🌱absolutely in love with growing my own herbs and vegetables...I just wish I had more space. You can definitely taste the difference between supermarket and home grown produce 🌱
3 mile run, warmup for tomorrow's CrossFit Open workout, then day 55/80( peek that story)! That all may seem excessive, and it probably is 🤣 but to me my fitness journey is less about what the scale says and more about being physically fit enough to do whatever I please! I want to be able to run, I want to be able to deadlift 2 times my weight, I want to hike mountains, I want to take on any challenge I see!
I workout for the endorphins AND the post-workout shake 😅. After trying at least a dozen different vegan protein powders, I’ve finally settled on @vega_team as my go-to. You can order a sample pack (which comes with this mixer!) if you’re like me and struggle to commit to flavours! #🏃♀️ #notsponsored
While I am all over nitro coffee I came across @teeccino while at @natprodexpo West and low and behold I am just as big a fan of #nitrotea the hibiscus blackberry blend was so smooth with a hit of tartness. So good - I drink a hibiscus/ green tea combo everyday at home so this so #hitthespot
My first non-running day in weeks. Not a fan, but I had dinner duties to keep me busy! Sticky sesame cauliflower wings with broccolini, snap peas and rice. The cauliflower was AMAZING. It’s been an exhausting week. Thankful it’s Friday.
This was not the best week for me and my fitness..I got hit with some heavy tragic news this week that threw me off my game and I couldn’t muster up the energy to get in the gym or run. It felt good to get back on the pavement today and I actually feel a little better. I’m going to come back hard next week, I have some making up to do.
RUN: Getting excited for Badwater Cape Fear 51.4 Miler tomorrow!!! I’m so glad I’m staying on the island this year. Checking in today and socializing with everyone is waaaaay better than getting up at 3:00am and driving to the ferry 😝Badwater Cape Fear round two - let’s go!
I stayed up too late last night and woke up too early this morning. I don't work on Friday, but I try to get as much done as possible so I can enjoy the weekend. Shopping, laundry, chores, that kind of stuff. But first, before anything else, I do my workout and go for a run. Today, I wanted to do neither. But still, I forced myself into the gym. Honestly, I don't love lifting weights, but I do it anyway because I recognize the health benefits that go with it. As I was going through the motions of today's workout, my mind started drifting to all the things I need to accomplish today. Thankfully, the torture ended and it was time to run. 6 miles easy to medium effort. Running is my passion. I'm not very fast, but I don't care. I love the freedom and the solitude of it. Today, however, my mind continued to wander to the rest of the tasks to complete today. About a mile in, I found myself wishing for today's run to end. Then, finally fed up with my attitude today, I said to myself "Relax, you're gonna be here awhile." That's when it stopped being another chore to complete and became enjoyable. I was able to enjoy the sights and the sounds of being outside. Fresh new snow on the ground, snow covered mountains, the sun shining brightly, the cool crisp air. For the rest of today's run I felt alive.
How much better would life be if we could all just remind ourselves "Relax, we're gonna be here awhile."?
