Last year was crazy. It was my first full year traveling around the US for gravel events. I have done longer races, but I still felt like a newbie. Part of me still does. But I don’t see myself as the youngest anymore. I had a great ride at Maisies, and had a breakthrough at the @dirtykanza.. to basically implode at Worlds. These things happen, and I’ve learned a lot of lessons through failing. I hope I fail more. I feel like most everyone in the gravel world has a lot of respect towards each other. I feel really comfortable, and I feel like I can compete at the highest level with these guys. I feel more mature, comfortable out there, and I’m hoping for good results to keep me pushing for whatever goals I set.⚡️
That's a wrap for our first annual Prison City Gravel Challenge! What a great day! Thank you to everyone who traveled near and far to discover some new roads in the Sam Houston National Forest. A special thank you to our volunteers who helped make everything run smoothly. You guys are awesome! Enjoy a quick look back at our day, more photos to come! #prisoncitygravel#gravelgrind#gravelgrinder#unlearnpavement @racereadyrepair -Prison City Gravel Team Gary, Mandi, John, and Venny
The little rainfall we got on Friday night turned Saturday’s roads into a dry, sticky, muddy mess. It took me almost 3 hours to go about 30 miles. Sunday was what it was all about! 120 solo miles, and self supported. Feeling great out there! Thanks for following along, and all the support messages I got during the day. Can’t wait to get this party started. ⚡️
Land Run 100 isn't about strength or speed or how great your bike is.
Sure, all those things help, but you know what it's really about?
It's really about determination.
Determination to climb those hard hills when your legs are screaming.
Determination to slog through the mud when you've already been walking for miles.
Determination to get back on your bike after the halfway point.
Determination to ride as long as it takes to get to get that bear hug from Bobby.
Determination to finish.
I’m incredibly humbled to announce a new partnership with @nomadcyclingapparel!! Scott sent me some gear on a whim to try out, and I’ve been hooked on how comfortable these digs are ever since. My riding story started out with a fixie and some overalls, and now I’m kind of a professional amateur.. Thank you so much for the opportunity. Think if I get a win we can make something in RED?? ⚡️
We LOVE our volunteers, and this event wouldn't be possible without them!
We still have volunteer spots open on Friday and Saturday. Not sure if there's a job for you? Check out our volunteer signup page and see! Visit our signup page to add your name to the list of people who make this event happen! Link in bio.
