These four people, tied together through their common ancestor, William Still, (proclaimed by the N.Y.Times as being "the father of the underground railroad"), met for the first time today when Samuel Still ( left), did a presentation on his family's history from slavery to freedom, including Dr. James Still, who became one of the wealthiest African Americans in New Jersey in the 1800s. Hosted by The Historical Society of Old Yarmouth, the talk was held at the Cultural Center to a sold out crowd of approx. 150. It was a passionate reminder to tell your story...and keep telling your story. #historicnewengland#blackhistory#undergroundrailroad#historylesson#hsoy#genealogy#historicalsocietyofoldyarmouth
What does Booker T. Washington National Monument and Upper Delaware have in common? Booker T. Washington tells both the story of slavery and the early years of young Washington. As for Upper Delaware rumors abound that the Delaware and Hudson Canal was part of the Underground Railroad. It may never be known for sure but makes for an interesting idea. #undergroundrailroad#slavery#bookertwashington#rovingrangers#upperdelaware

He’s in a Catholic School w/ some diversity. They don’t teach as much Black History as we’d like. However special S/O the parents in this group specifically who was crazy supportive in helping Jalen and the kids bridge the gap.. To hear some of the other kids in his group (non-African American) passionately present on the history and facts was a joy.. #WinWin#TaylorGang#TaylorMade
It’s not easy to give this book a short review, just as it wasn’t easy to read it …

The topic of slavery wasn't very present in my life until now, we didn't even cover it in school (I think …), and that's one reason why I chose to read "Underground Railroad", you know, leave the comfort zone and all 💪🏻

Seeing Coras ordeal through her eyes, I read whole chapters with a lump in my throat. The fact that all the gruesome things she had to endure were so common for her made the experience even more intense. And accompanying her when she tries to live her "new normal" brought me closer to her than I've been to many other fictional characters. Which is astonishing considering that I can imagine only few that could possibly be set farther apart from, you know, every single aspect of my life …

Did you read "Underground Railroad" yet? What was your experience with the book?
Favorite metro in found in Paris☝🏻Кто бы что ни говорил, я обожаю метро Парижа!

Just last week, I paid tribute to the most courageous person who ever lived: #HarrietTubman by walking 100 miles in 5 days• This was the most physically and mentally challenging thing I’ve ever done in my entire life! • While I had to take every step on my own, as an individual, it was my team of @girltrek sisters who motivated, challenged, pushed, loved and nurtured me the whole way through. Without them, I would not have even considered walking the #UndergroundRailroad , 100 miles in 5 days. And without them, I never would have crossed the finish line. • This picture from the end of Day 2 sums up the experience of
#HarrietsGreatEscape — sisters holding up each other to victory and even in absolute pain we are graceful and still can smile. Framing this sweet capture by @taylorfreesolo, one of the most gifted photographers I’ve ever met.
