Lovely to get out running today! Felt rather toasty at about 8 degrees compared to the weekend 😂
And unfortunately the #readinghalfmarathon was cancelled due to the weather so I'm on the lookout for another goal race.
And so looking forward to being the 2:20 pacer at #hackneyhalf
Happy running all!
Today was supposed to be 14 miles, however at mile 6 I got a sharp knee pain which was more severe uphill, and would ease off with walking bit start again with running, so I cut the run short at 7 miles. I'm feeling very underprepared for the marathon and seriously considering changing to the half, using the last of my time to train for a solid half rather than a struggle marathon. I just don't know, its a big decision. I'm so overwhelmed by what I have on my plate right now, I don't know what to do for the best! #run#running#runner#instarunners#thisgirlcan#thisgirlcanrun#roadrunning#endurance#runningcommunity#marathontraining#ukrunchat

I feel a bit like this daffodil 🌼 struggling to get upright and perky again after this recent blast of cold from the east! But I know I will… just a bit over this cold icy snowy weather and looking forward to some warmth and sunshine! ❄️❎☀️✅ Saying that managed a lovely chatty run this morning so at least I know the legs are working but not necessarily ready for the weekends 10k #bolttheholt !
My race report from this weekend's Brightlingsea Marathon Challenge is now on my blog (link in bio). There was a biting wind, snow and it was so cold that the water froze in the cups at checkpoints, but it was still great fun!
I don't think I've done a #transformationtuesday before. I didn't start running to transform my body. I started it to help my mind.
Yesterday a memory came up on Facebook; it's one year since I ran my first half marathon and it has made me think what has changed.
My confidence has grown. I remember the worries I had about if I could run that distance last year, the doubts I had in myself. Here I am now training for both my first marathon and my first ultra.
The biggest change has been my mindset. Running has transformed my outlook on life, it makes me so happy; it has made me believe in myself but that hasn't just come from me; I have surrounded myself with like-minded people, who get this. We support each other to reach our own goals whatever they may be and we have fun while we are doing it.
I was told earlier it’s international day of happiness apparently.
What makes you happy?
For me top of the list are my family, friends and running. I really do find myself smiling more since running came into my life, I have more fun and I’m less afraid of being silly and worrying about what people think of me. Life’s too short and all that... #internationaldayofhappiness#progress#runhappy#smile#iloverunning
Data Post 📈🏃🏻♂️
Here’s the data from this morning’s session. You can definitely see that I was flagging towards the end as my speed was becoming slower 👀 Quick short high intensity burst before work was just what I needed!
My legs don’t feel heavy whatsoever, yet! Looking forward to the double session tomorrow 🙌🏻
Marathon Training - the beginning of the end edition
The snow is still on the hills, so I decided to wear my winter kit. This was a bad choice, I was boiling, no need for a woolly hat or a thermal top.
It was a bit like I had forgotten all my training. I went out waaaaaay too fast and struggled on my last mile as a result. It was suppose to be race pace, but I was comfortable going much faster, again not the point of the run! I had a really enjoyable, tough up the hill at the end run, but it was too fast and I was too hot. I don’t see it as a bad run as I was comfortable and happy enough, but I have to try harder to stick to race pace. Miles in the bank as the marathon gets closer

Had an absolutely amazing weekend away in Cyprus for the @limassolmarathon (half for me). A bit of sun, a bit of fun and a bit of a run!
Race didn’t go quite to plan as felt a bit sick after mile 6, needed the loo and suddenly realised it was actually rather hot! So, a quick loo stop in a portaloo, a couple of short walk breaks and hug with a friend running in the opposite direction I managed 2hrs 13 - not too shabby for me, not a PB but I was happy with this by the end of it. The @run_mummy_run_news community were just amazing - all supporting each other en route as we passed each other and @catherine_rmr organised a true RMR style Cheer Squad just before the 2k promenade finish. ❤️. Some had some tough runs out there and some pulled off a PB .. @run_mummy_run_rmr founder Leanne got her sub 2 hr she’d trained hard for and @run_bunty_run achieved her first sub 4 hr marathon on her 10th marathon. So proud of them ❤️.
Two running communities there together from the U.K. and new friendships made. Also a fantastic team of pacers - a talented bunch of guys and girls bringing runners home helping them achieve their times. All in all a fantastic weekend - sore tummy muscles - from laughing 😘
Took myself to the track this morning to do the speed session I should have done last night (when I decided it was too cold and hid in the garage on the bike). Started with a 3 mile jog (commute/ warm up) then straight in to the session (after getting lost in Withdean sports complex for 10 minutes!). .
6 x 800 (Yasso 800) .
(400 AR between each @ 2 minute to 2:15 per 400) .
(800s - 2:57, 3:15, 3:16, 3:19, 3:16, 3:19) .
I felt good if I'd slowed down the active recovery I think I could have kept the pace for another 4 so feel confident that I'm getting closer to the kind of fit I need to be for the marathon (in less than 4 weeks!). #katiesbrightonmarathon
Having a second go at Monday and keeping my eyes on the long term goal
Was meant to do this workout yesterday to give me a break before tomorrow's 5k race but didn't do it. I was very tempted to just skip it because "I don't want to be sore for tomorrow".
Tomorrow's race is not one where I will be beating my personal best, I'm not training for the 5km distance so man up and get on with it! Miles in the bag, Fartleks to improve my speed and overall a good morning's run 🏃♀️👌
YES, we have filled all our spaces, and tickets are NO longer available. We are very excited for our evening with Aftershokz! 🏃Wow! ➖
We will work on a first come first serve basis for the headphones, if you've booked more than one ticket, or can no longer make it, please withdraw your ticket ASAP so others do not miss out! ❤️
See you then! 🏃😊
