Bit of a big info dump on a DIY project involving the new delta I've been getting going off and on over the weekend. The finished product is just a test print because I realized I'd made a small goof in my dimensions. In any case, I'd been asked to post a start-to-finish timelapse of a print, so this was still a good practical demonstration. That thin layer you see in the print is deliberate, a little printing trick I learned from Hackaday known as a sacrificial bridge. It helps with overhangs I needed to make to fit a 1/4" bolt into the tapped end of an aluminum bar.
#marchmeetthemaker Dreams and Plans In a bid to catch up, I had to skip some days. As a Designer and Artist, I like to explore and push design boundaries. Those who know me, know that I have been a bit fixated on 3D Printing. Not too long ago I attended a introduction session on using the 3D Printing software Tinkercad. More recently I was lucky enough to attend a more in depth workshop by @madlabuk. This was facilitated by @gemmamaylatham @chrisballprojects (thank you so much for all your fab expert advice). This Workshop was brilliant, I got to know so many awesome things and how I could incorporate this into my design work. During the day, there was a opportunity to create our own design. This was my first time creating a design straight into the software, with a little help it did not take to long to produce. It was great to see this get printed and in the flesh so to speak! My creation was inspired by a design by Chris (facilitator of the workshop). I can't wait to see how I can move forward with this. #marchmeetthemaker2018#meetthemaker#tinkercad#utlimaker#3dprinting#3dprinter#3dprinted#designexploration#designandtechnology#love3dprinting @joannehawker
