Our friends at @caffeluxxe are hosting a Bake & Gather tomorrow at their new cafe, with their future Palisades neighbors @SweetLaurelBakery! We'll have our baked goods there, with ALL proceeds going to @EmpowHer_LA and @timesupnow. Come and support! #andgatherforgood#TimesUp
As a cis white heterosexual girl, I cannot relate to many cases in LGBTQ community or in other races and ethnicities. I can not (and do not) say “I can relate” when I talk to a girl who is one of the things I’m not only because I’m a female. Having a vagina doesn’t mean I understand issues that other women are going through. But I can support them and try to educate myself and learn from them and pass on what I know and do what I can so I don’t sit idly by while others suffer. #feminist#feminism#intersectionalfeminism#metoo#timesup#neveragain#equality#movement#equalrights
“this isn’t a delicate, aching letter. it’s messy and selfish, and a whole lot more angry than i thought it would be.” // @marilla.kay
if you know me, you know that i’m a strong advocate of the #metoo campaign & others like it, for very personal reasons.
i have revisited the healing process in the last year, & much of my processing has been through photography & journaling. this is a self portrait from a mental health series of mine, with an attached snippet of a letter i wrote as i processed.
A good laugh can heal many hurts. Join us at @caveatnyc on April 28 to celebrate female comedians who identify as sexual + domestic assault survivors, including our founder @brittanythebrave. These bold, talented women turned to humor to cope and work to break the stigma on making comedy out of tragedy. The show, and corresponding documentary, is produced by @kellybachman.

Many thanks to the Permanent Mission of Austria to the UN for hosting this fantastic event with lawyer and activist Monica Ramirez, and for role modeling what true partnership and leadership look like.
a year ago I self-published a piece on medium about how it sucks to be a female staffer in congress. I tried to elucidate the subtle, noxious sexism that pervaded my senate office and eventually pushed me out of politics. I was so overwhelmed by the response. this post is dedicated to the 30,000 of you (!) who’ve read the story, the women on capitol hill who are living it, and also the senior senate staffer who threatened me by proxy that writing this piece would hurt my career prospects for the rest of my life. #timesup on your fuckery dude.
For the past three years @women_worldwide and I have put together this event to open up the conversation on street harassment. This conversation is even more important now in the times of #metoo and #timesup movement. We ask that you share this event. Come thru and participate. We create safe spaces for those experiencing a difficult time. The event will be facilitated by @paularamirezpoet and it is FREE! Teens are welcomed. This event is sponsored by @word4f @lean2love @dwd.center @women_worldwide and @uptowngirlsnyc
Wordat4F will host an open mic and community discussion to advocate for the safety of all individuals who have been victims of unwanted and inappropriate street harassment. We choose to utilize community public spaces by educating bystanders and empowering individuals through storytelling and poetry.
Around the world, gender harassment victims are usually victims of street harassment first. The problems began happening early: a 2008 study found that nearly 25 percent of 12-year-old girls face street harassment. International Anti-Street Harassment Week coincides with Sexual Assault Awareness Month in the U.S. as it encourages people to speak out about harassment and see the connection between harassment on the street and sexual assault.

The Women Worldwide Initiative sponsors this event every year. For information about their programs for girls visit: www.womenworldwideinitiative.org #speakup#sexualassault#streetharassment#metoo#timesup
They are our future. They can be strong, smart, and confident in anything and everything they do. But to get there, we need change in this society. No more being taken advantage of. We will all be strong. We will all find a way to change our realities, and I has to happen now. #timesup#readytochange#weareone#readytorumble

On Sunday, March 25, East of Borneo, a contemporary online art journal supported by CalArts School of Art, and LACMA present the fifth annual Art + Feminism meetup, a global do-it-yourself campaign to improve the coverage of women, feminism and the arts on Wikipedia.
This year’s Los Angeles event will focus on the topic of Women and Film with a nod to the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements that have risen to address gender inequality and sexual harassment in the film industry and beyond.
The afternoon will kick off at noon with a panel discussion with Claudia Puig (president, Los Angeles Film Critics Association) and Lucy Mukerjee-Brown (director of programming, Outfest) moderated by Dilcia Barrera (associate curator of film programs, LACMA). At 2 p.m., East of Borneo editor and Art + Feminism regional ambassador Stacey Allan will lead a training workshop on how to create and edit Wikipedia articles. And then, from 3 to 5 p.m., the Edit-a-thon will commence. Attendees are asked to bring their own laptops or tablets, power sources and any reference materials to work from or share. LACMA’s Balch Art Research Library catalog will also be available for use.
The event is free and open to Wikipedia beginners and people of all gender expressions and identities and online registration is required. Children coming with their parents can attend the free Andell Family Sunday activities during the day.

My adventure to the UN 62nd Commission on the Status of Women #csw62 made me excited. Excited for a future where all women are heard and valued as equals among men. Excited for a future without gender based violence. Excited for systems and authorities to wholly support and empower women at every level. Excited for more women in leadership. Excited for the diversity of women to be prioritised in local and global conversations. Excited for a future where #metoo and #timesup will be movements written in history. Excited to be a part of change driven by strong inspirational women 👸🏽👸🏾👸🏿 with the unwavering support from many strong men 💪🏽💪🏾💪🏿
SAFETY :: In a world where it is clear that certain lives are deemed valuable and others disposable it is hard to feel safe. You deserve to feel safe in your body, in your home, in your classroom, at your workplace, on the street, at a concert, in your car, in your back yard. Your safety should not depend on your skin color, your age, your social economic status, your sexual orientation, your gender, your profession, your dress, your language, your size, your legal status, your ability or your stability. .
If you are feeling unsafe, please reach out. We can listen. We can provide a safe space, even if it’s just for an hour a week. We can help you gather resources and find communities to feel safe in....because we VALUE YOUR LIFE. .
