It's hard to see beyond what's in sight
But when you tilt the light I realize
For 1000 nights
I've been a restless soul
Just wasting time
Digging up fool's gold
It took a 1000 nights
Being on my own
For me to find
It was all fool's gold
A humpback whale head lunges at the surface, displaying the ventral grooves and knuckles. This humpback was in a small group of 3 males who were pursuing a female off the coast of Maui. I've been looking through some of my old marine biology books, some I've had for over 20 years! It's interesting to see what has changed with what we now know about cetaceans.
I grew up near a big water, 15 minutes walk to the Sea of Japan. Wherever I live, it's important for me to be near water. Probably, in part, that's why I love St. Petersburg (Russia) so much, probably, in part, that's why my house is only five minutes walk to Lake Michigan.
