This ring-shaped hotel in Norway will have 360-degree views of the Arctic! Svartic is also the Arctic Circle's first hotel to achieve Powerhouse energy criteria, which means it will generate more renewable energy in a 60-year period than would be required to build and demolish it.
'In;Human Nature' 2016
Behind the scenes look at the massive glacial area on Svartisen, Northern Norway where i have been climbing and documenting specific geometric areas of ice to be used in my moonscapes from the 1960’s.
These have been 'wireframed' by hand in a 3D program, then drawn organically on vintage NASA images which i have collected over the past three years.
These glacial landscapes represent something recognizable and categorized. They also represent a part of Earth which is rapidly dissapearing in the new era we humans have come into; the Anthropocene.
To me, this image reminds of a bigger picture, where Man is a mere speck in a void of that which is undiscovered and dissapearing at a frightening pace while we continue to exhaust all natural resources, pollute our oceans and our atmosphere. Seeing the known in new horizons can bring both hope and fear as to where Mankind is heading in his stagnation and loss of self with technology fueling its pace.
Carl Jung wrote alot about how the great Antartica discoveries from 1911 have been exchanged by rockets and space travel in Mans urge for new frontiers and understanding.

‘In;Human Nature’ is exhibited at Galleri Balder in Oslo this month :-)
Big up @eswibb 🙌🏼
Bildene kan sees på Galleri Balder i Oslo :-)
