The first thing to do is to become conscious of your breath.
Inhale … and exhale. Inhale, feel the air fill your body, and exhale, feel your body release tension and stress. You are alive because of this. Your breath is the extension of your life. Feel the air fill your body, and feel your body release all of the energy that no longer serves you. It's that simple, if you allow it.
Your next step is to become aware of your physical body. It's so perfect and capable. It has guided you in every direction, this one included. If you need to adjust your position to be most comfortable do so now. Scan your body looking for areas of tension. Look for areas of concern; areas that cause pain. Visualize the breath filling the problem area, and on the outbreath, visualize all the tension and stress leaving your body.
Starting from your crown – unfurrow your brow, allow your ears to drop, soften your eyes, unclench your jaw. Smile a bit and recognize the sweetness of your cheeks. Let go of yesterday, don't focus on whats next, just be here.
Bring attention to your shoulders, past your arms, to your elbows, around your wrists, and into your hands until your reach the tips of your fingers. Take a moment to appreciate all that you've created and loved with your hands. Harness those images and let the energy continue to flow through them. -
Find your chest, yes it has held some anxieties but this where your heart is protected. Sink down into your belly, feel it rise and fall, you've held your deepest laughs here. Continue to trickle your energy down to your hips, they may be tight but your thighs are firm. You are so strong. Let this energy wash over you like water, encompassing the rest of your legs to your ankles, and finally your feet. Feel the energy flow freely from your toes. It is gone.
