When it comes to fitness, most people don't know what a kettlebell is, let alone how to even use it (even intermediate and advanced athletes)! Most gyms lack kettlebells in their equipment due to this fact, but I want to teach you the ins-and-outs of the illustrious kettlebell to broaden your fitness knowledge and add serious artillery to your repertoire! 🔥
☑ WHAT IS A KETTLEBELL
A kettlebell is simply a ballistic, cast iron weight with an iron handle attached to THE TOP like a bucket handle! Their center of gravity (COG) lies on the outside of your hands from the spherical weight BELOW YOUR GRIP, instead of in the palm of your hands like a dumbbell provides. This difference in the COG of the kettlebell makes it HIGHLY EFFICIENT in explosive, power-based movements - so their main focus is to be used in moderate weight while moving from point A to point B as fast as possible! This type of training does pose the risk of injury, so be cautious and become aware of the kettlebell feel and grip in your hands through various motions before attempting heavier weight 👍
Because the COG is located in the ballistic weight, any movement is going to also engage your core and stabilizer muscles to offset the directional pull that the kettlebell is trying to tug you towards. The kettlebell engages thousands of muscle fibers throughout THE WHOLE BODY simultaneously just like a compound movement with basically all its exercises, making it great for working all areas such as cardiovascular, strength, endurance, power, and flexibility at the same time - thus allowing you to burn WAY MORE calories in a shorter amount of time!
