Thinking about all the code I could be writing, but instead I’m here taking pics for IG 🤔💭😂
I have a million and one errands to run today, all in preparation for Japan 🇯🇵! I seriously can’t wait! It’s all I’ve been thinking about lately and gah I’m just so excited. This will be my first trip outside of the US, Canada doesn’t count lol. I’m trying to cram some quick Japanese into my brain before the trip, do you have any language learning apps you like and/or would recommend?? Open to any suggestions! Let me know
Now our sessions are split between the regular curriculum, where our students learn #coding principles, and our #App lab where students apply their learning to a practical app project. We currently have two projects being worked on, a recycling game and a quizz app. We're so proud! #code#Programming#stem#learntocode
I could run to Carolina, just like this. 🎶
All the way to Ft Bragg and never quit. 🎶
Just singing a little cadence so I feel at home come next month. I'm running the @allamericanmarathon to support the @liftandshiftfoundation, and the support we've received so far has been great. Donate, share, learn more on their page. Join us - #SupportTheTroops
I’m Ashley Hall (aka @lady_naturalist ), Adult Programs Coordinator at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. I design fun, educational, engaging programs for adults which often take place at the Museum, but also in conjunction with other local institutions like libraries, movie theatres, hiking stores, and more!
Like a gem, my job is multi-faceted. Besides planning and conducting adult programs, I also teach classes for grades K-12 at the Museum in the galleries in the mornings (think old-school Museum tours, but more exciting!), video conferencing classes with schools in different states (and countries!), and I also take our programs on the road (Science-to-Go!) to schools within an hour radius of the Museum.
Like my job, my background is also multi-faceted and extremely variable! While I am a paleontologist and informal educator by training, I hold a B.A in Anthropology and Animal Behavior from Indiana University Bloomington. I studied animal bones at archaeological sites in Kansas and Wyoming to determine diet in Protohistoric plains hunter-gatherer groups. After college, I decided to pursue my lifelong dream of working both in a Natural History Museum and as a paleontologist. I spent the last 7 years working in the Education Division at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles (@NHMLA) and the world famous La Brea Tar Pits where I was able to design research-based programming (public tours, school programs) to a wide variety of audiences. I was then hired as Assistant Curator at the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology under ceratopsian expert Dr. Andrew A. Farke where I excavated, catalogued, identified, and curated fossils from Bureau of Land Management Land from the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. I’ve published research on Pleistocene birds from the La Brea Tar Pits and sauropod dinosaurs with my husband, Lee Hall (@paleeoguy). I love sharing my passion through social media, so feel free to follow my adventures on Instagram!
My coffee pot started leaking from under the base. Rather than just throw it away I decided exercise my engineering muscle and identify the source. If it turned out to be a worn hose I could easily replace it for just five bucks. We throw away so many "broken" things without giving much thought to if it can be fixed and even less to whether we can fix it ourselves.
It turned out to be a leak in the actual pipe of the heating element which is most of the cost of a new coffee maker anyway. But hey, now I know.
#SaturdayStyle : I just adore this young Queen (I know I've said that about her a lot over the years) but she continues to amaze me. An Ivy league forward thinker, a style style, a leader...all wrapped up with a charismatic bow. She was recently the youngest person interviewed by Oprah...this is who young girls should admire. I don't have a little sister, but I hope to raise a daughter like @yarashahidi someday. .
Our oxyGEN STEM Scholarship deadline is fast approaching! If you know anyone who will be studying a STEM discipline in college next year, encourage them to apply! Link in bio!
As a parent, I quickly began to understand how and why parents want the best for their children - the desire to expose them to the best, give them the best opportunities. I began enrolling my children in physical activities at a very young age and introduced them to S.T.E.M. learning from the age of 4. Since then, I've become obsessed with the idea of exposing my kids to both. As an educator and basketball coach, I am passionate about this amazing combination and the incredible impact it will have on all our children and society as a whole. I am beyond excited to launch this S.T.E.M. & Sports program to help children flourish intellectually and athletically. - Christa Eniojukan, Program Director & Founder #stem#camp#basketball#soccer#studentathlete#scholar#kids#ajax#whitby#pickering#guelph#hamilton#pdday
