You are invited to experience the capstone exhibition, Calafia, by Mike Kershnar, the 6th Street Artist in Residence. The showcase of works delves into local inspirations of surf, skate and nature.
The exhibition will be at the Gallery 1315 in North Beach, San Clemente March 24th, 6-10pm. Our sponsors Libre Tequila, Black Feather Whiskey and Artifex Brewing will be serving up delicous liquids. Food trucks will cooking up mouth watering goods and the fantastical Cobraman will be funking up the space with dancy tunes. The gallery will be setup as a functional mini skate park by our sponsor 2x4 Mini Ramps. A portion of the proceeds will go to San Clemente Skate Coalition to build a new bowl at San Clemente Skate Park.
Michael Kershnar is a lifelong artist and skateboarder with a deep interest in the natural world and global spirituality. Among his impressive catalogue of commissioned works are illustrations for skate brands Toy Machine, Element, and Volcom, as well as rock luminaries Morrissey, The Beastie Boys, and The Grateful Dead. Kershnar shows his pieces around the globe. He has been featured in Thrasher, Juxtapoz, and Bliss magazines and European culture publications.
Cobra Man is a lo-fo punk journey through bastardized arpeggiated italo disco for the Thrasher generation. A synthy dance band breeding fun times.
