Great White at Twighlight - Under/Over Portrait
Twilight at dusk is often a time when great whites are charged with extra vigor. Low light conditions better suit their ambush style of hunting and as the darkness looms the sharks move inshore to commence patrolling the Neptune Island fur seal colony.
Opportunities to capture great white sharks with 'under-overs' at this time then become few and far between. Even when this is possible any close up chances often appear in too much of a hurry to steady and compose the ideal shot with such large fast moving creatures.
With the day fading the exposure here relies heavily on using artificial light. This can create surreal colours, details, shadows and mood to the image that can’t otherwise be created from the brightness of day.
