happy St. Patrick’s Day from this Irish girl! 🍀 turns out that even though green is one of my favorite colors, I rarely sew with it - I need to change that! and for all you fellow “shoes on the duvet” purists out there, those flats are on little squares of Kleenex 😉 patterns here: #louboxtop , #ogdencami , #anzajumpsuitdress , #monetadress , and the #chitownchinos
Self-drafted workout wear in use. It’s so satisfying to be able to make my own clothing just how I like it. I used @hodgepodgefarm ‘s tutorial to make these leggings just the right length, with a nice comfy wide waistband. It’s also satisfying to be able to finally work up to a headstand, thanks to @adrienelouise ‘s yoga youtube videos. 🧘♀️💪🏻✂️💛#sewingworkoutwear#sewingyogi#sewingleggings#sewingtall
Sorry if this is a bit of a boring make to post about but I’ve been on a basics sewing binge recently to try and fill some of the gaps in my handmade wardrobe. I really didn’t have many handmade tops or t-shirts so I felt this was the year to sort that out. This one is a wearable toile of the #hemlocktee from #grainlinestudio I really like the oversized fit of this pattern and it was free so that’s always a plus.
☄Sleeves☄//Thank you so much to everyone who commented yesterday and helped me to decide on sleeves or no sleeves on this jumpsuit// The instagram sewing community is such a hub of friendliness and support it bloody well makes my heart burst 😍😍// Now if I could find a way to capture the hivemind and apply it to all my life decisions....// Also shoutout to getting my first haircut in 18 months 💇♀️💇♀️// #sewing#handmadethreads#sewingtall
@thedoingthingsblog shows us an incredible pattern/fabric combo with her Fringe Dress! Read her pattern review and #sewingtall modifications on her blog today. Link in bio!
#fringedresspattern by @chalkandnotch, available at #indiesew . This version sewn in sold-out #indiesewfabric .
I know I promised you more photos and info on my Fringe Dress but here is a little palate cleanser. The Ninni Culottes #ninniculottes from @namedclothing 💙 It’s a very simple style with an elastic waist and side seam pockets. I’ve seen so many great versions of this style and they did not disappoint. A perfect spring and summer style. The fabric is double gauze from Kokka Echino, bought at @missmatatabifabric (pssst, she still has two color ways left!) This is size 40 with 9 cm added at the lengthening line. I deviated from the pattern’s instructions by dividing the waistband into 3 casings, fit for narrow elastic. It’s my absolute favorite way of making elastic waistbands when working with thin, woven materials. #namedpatterns#sewblueandwhite#sewingtall#projectsewit
To Sleeve or Not to Sleeve// Been working on another jumpsuit mashup of #v9091 and #v9251 using this gooorgeous forest green linen I bought in #thefabricstore sale a few weeks ago// I like the disco vibe of no sleeve but it feels more wearable with sleeves// Please send help!!// Or maybe I should just make two 😏😏😏 #sewing#handmadethreads#sewingtall
finished a 💣 ass pair of pants yesterday, and wondered this morning why I rarely reach for this pair of #soiultimatetrousers . well, because I still haven’t nailed the fit. after yesterday’s pants, though, I think I’m onto something - I bet with 45 minutes of alterations, these would be so much better!
I couldn't wait to share these pictures of my new #toastersweater made from a super soft cotton/bamboo French terry! Keeping my eye out for the prefect fabric to make the toaster sweater 1. (also how great of a job did my boyfriend do taking pictures here!? I'm so impressed, and it really beats the results from my typical tripod setup)
I’m going to post this and pretend it’s not the Monday after we lost an hour to daylight savings. 😴 And that there is flipping snow on the forecast for this afternoon! 😣 I made this Fringe Dress #fringedresspattern from @chalkandnotch with ruffles added to the sleeves for my good friend’s 40th birthday party this Saturday. It was the perfect look AND feel good dress. I’ll post some more photos later and tell you about this amazing fabric that I bought many months ago with this exact dress in mind! And also how I made the ruffles. 🙌🏻 #chalkandnotchpatterns
Missouri yesterday: yeah girl, it’s definitely time to make a warm-weather #louboxdress2 !
Missouri today: LOOOOOOL you believed me?!?!?! 😂
whatever Missouri, I’ve got pasta sauce simmering, and I’ll get my spring soon 😏
The only downside to the slant pocket variation of the #seamworkleonora is that there are fewer chances to use rivets. Love how this turned out, although I'd recommend using a non-stretch fabric if you plan on making this
It was a snowy weekend when we visited Utah recently, but no worries because my #tamarackjacket kept me warm and cozy! I tilted the pocket for comfort and enlarged the pocket bag to reach the entire front corner. I love how you can’t see it from the inside because I used two separate layers of quilted knit. I’m loving this heather grey fabric from @raspberrycreekfabrics !————————————-#grainlinestudio#quiltedjacket#sewingtall#coatmakingparty
//👩🎨Take me to the Art Gallery Opening👩🎨// Finished the wonderfully weird #v9186 in some rayon from #supercheapfabrics // The fabric wasn't wide enough for the crazy pattern pieces so i added a seam in the side triangle piece// This is a bit of an odd pattern, I absolutely hate how the armhole was drafted and don't understand why there is only one pocket but they are easy fixes if i choose to make this again// I didn't add any length despite #sewingtall as i thought a bit shorter would balance the side volume // This fabric is quite busy for showing the unusual design but I really enjoy the wide elastic asymmetrical waist// These wonderful buttons belonged to my late nan// #sewing#handmadethreads
there are two things I always think when I see an outfit flatlay on a bed. 1- they are way better at folding than I am, and 2- their shoes are getting their duvet dirty! good thing my shoes haven’t been worn outside yet. // #louboxtop with ruffle hack, #driftlesscardigan
Two of the three pairs of leggings I whipped up last night. (I’m currently wearing the third pair.). I can’t believe I’ve gotten to the place where I can legitimately say I “whipped” something up. Yes, they’re an easy make, but it was easy FOR me to make them. I again used the #peglegs from @patternsforpirates time make these. Rather than a hem, I added a band at the bottom. I find I like the look better than a hem, but that could just be because hemming activewear fabric is a pain. Best part? These two are for my daughter, by request, which means my end results earn a passing grade from a tough critic. A good day, indeed! #isew#isewmyownclothes#memade#peglegs#sewingtall#memadeleggings#feelingproud
Leftovers can be so great sometimes! For my second #seamworkleonora I used the member exclusive slant pocket variation so it would be a bit different from my first version. I also lengthened it by 4" which apparently is my default length to lengthen things by lol
I promised more info on this Scarlett Top (#sascarletttop ) from @stylearc 🧡 This is size 10 with absolutely no changes at all to the pattern. Which means if you are shorter than 178 cm/5’10” you might want to consider shorten it. 😉 Smaller sizes might be automatically shorter though! Instead of hemming the bottom pieces, I cut them double and use the mustard double gauze (both fabrics from @imaginegnats ) for the inside. I interfaced the hem on one of the layers all the way around before sewing them together. I accidentally placed the back flap on top of the front (it’s suppose to be opposite) but right before I started to redo it, I realized that I actually liked it like that and just kept it. 🤷🏻♀️ Instead of the suggested bias tape in the neckline I drafted some facings. I just prefer to finish necklines like that. No biggie! #stylearc#imaginegnatsshop#sewingtall
Handmade wardrobe tour: costumes. This is the last stop on the tour, and it’s dedicated to the most fun things I make - Halloween costumes! We really swing for the fences with our costumes and I love all the planning and crafting that happens in early fall as a result. The Klara and Niko costumes from @cirquedusoleil #Kurios are probably our best to date, but we’ve had fun as Mr. and Mrs. Fox, Jack Skellington and Zero, a wasp, a bandage zombie, etc. I made a shark victim costume for my sister that I’m pretty proud of too 🦈🦊🐝🎪✨. Thanks for following along in the tour! I’ll try to do updates more regularly as I finish projects...
