I don’t know what it is, but black and white just adds such a pop of emotion. Classic. Timelessness maybe. How we envision our past memories like they are on a black and white vintage reel. Sometimes in slow motion, added grain, silence. Your wedding photos are TRULY forever. Add these precious moments to the reel.
Everly Tip: leave enough space in the timeline for hair and makeup - this is where schedules most frequently go awry. Assume at least one hour per bridesmaids and two hours for the bride. The more hair stylists and makeup artists you have, the later you can start getting ready. #weddingmakeup#weddinghairstyle#weddingstyle ⠀

Portrait photography is just as much as an art (if not more) as it is a skill someone hires you for.
I debated for a long time whether or not to share this. I was worried that maybe it would sound like a cop out or maybe a client would think that they're not guaranteed a "certain quality." Or maybe they would be worried that what I'm about to say would ultimately affect how I would perform on their wedding day.
But the reality is, my job is not only a skill. It's not only the equipment I'm using, the settings on my camera or the way that I edit. To a certain degree - it's an art and all artists have to have a "mental space" to create.
It's easy to deliver beautiful photos because of the time spent honing in on our craft. The experience that allows a photographer to move through a session with a "sort of flow" or routine is because over time it becomes second nature. But, it's not always easy to deliver unique or creative perspectives never seen before.
I can't speak for every photographer, but when it comes to sessions having adequate time is what I have found to be most impactful.
When a session starts late or is limited to a certain time, this creative process can be cut short. I may not have time to take a step back to view the scene from a different or creative angle. For this reason, I don't "cap" the timeframe on sessions, I start wedding collections with a minimum amount of hours and ask that my clients arrive on time and with no other obligations immediately following their session. I know that this allows me to have the creative space I need.
These two were up for having fun and allowed me to take a few minutes to play with my prism, capture double exposures and ultimately, run around like a crazy person getting different perspectives all while inspiring my creativity. We had a blast, got to know each other and created one-of-a-kind art and memories together that they'll have for a lifetime.
A downtown winter elopement with one of the best views in town - AT THE COURTHOUSE can you believe it?! Look at the city. My beloved city. I’m literally so obsessed with urban weddings I could scream! If you’re looking to elope and have a court house wedding this year, let me be there with you and capture these special and intimate moments!
One of my favorite parts about being a Florist, is bringing someone’s vision to light. Melanie Benson is one talented lady, and she made my flower dreams come true on my own wedding day. I still take inspiration from my own wedding flowers. Thanks @melaniebensonfloral #tbt
Thursday thoughts // It’s a gloomy morning filled with editing and views from my favorite coffee shop. Thinking a lot about what kinds of things I want to do differently this year with my business, creative direction and how much I loved shooting this wedding in the city with @andrialindquist. In this “off season” it’s easy to forget how crazed things can get so I’m enjoying the calm before the storm for a change. Quiet work days, cooking and planning shoots. That’s my jam. What about you? Tell meeee.
It is couples like this that have shaped our “why” for planning weddings. We can design flower arrangements, seating charts and choose linens, but when a groom overcome with emotion seeing his bride for the first time begins to pray over her that isn’t something we could ever plan. Yet, it’s in these moments the Holy Spirit works that shape why we are passionate about designing weddings, because it’s so much more than just the pretty details. #emilyelizabethevents
I discovered a dirt track down the street, tucked away on a hill behind a middle school
Instantly, I felt this surge of motivation to work towards beating my old mile time
Do you ever get those feelings? The nostalgia and want to do something you were never able to accomplish before?
In high school, my goal was to break 6 minutes for the mile - I got down to 6:02 and then my legs began experiencing shin splints which turned into stress fractures from me continuing to push myself through the pain, so I had to stop running for a long time
But now, that track is just down the street and my mind keeps going back to it. New goal: beat my old PR. Just waiting for that school to get out for the day so I can go put on my running shoes and escape for a little bit...👟

Tomorrow I leave for TWO out of state weddings and an engagement session. This weekend I’ll be in the beautiful state of Texas and next weekend Miami! I’m so excited for these next two beautiful adventures. Today I’m last minute packing, getting my eyebrows situated and doing a quick portrait session downtown! So much to do in so little time! SEND HALP.
#everythingispointless maybe that's the point? When it comes to chasing down my goals, I'm comforted by the reality that we're all just insignificant little specks of dust, floating through the infinite universe on a tiny little blueberry. No one knows what they're doing here really. Feels less scary to take chances when you think about it like that.
Now, yes I feel called to do what I'm doing and to help other people as much as I can along the way. I feel like our desires are like god-given magic sparks we're all gifted with..... but I'm also very aware that I'm just a lil ant on an ant hill. Go to sleep mandy.
