I wanna talk to you guys about something very personal ... I have always had fairly clear skin as far as I can remember . Even back in high school where people are usually plagued with acne , I was pimple free . And up until a few months ago , it’s stayed that way.
Right after this past holiday season my skin started to freak out - BAD . Literally a new blemish every single day , super dry and bad texture . Selfies were becoming harder to take because I could clearly see all the issues , even under makeup . It was starting to take a toll on my confidence .
For those of you who don’t know , I am an esthetician . And I have always taken care of my skin consistently , religiously . My night time skin care regimen is so intense it’s worth filming lol . So I couldn’t understand why this was happening to ME ? Someone who follows all the skin rules and then some . But I tried not to stress about it because I knew that would only make my skin worse ! And let me tell you , adult acne is a BEAST . Not only is it embarrassing but the blemishes are more aggressive , larger and harder to get rid of that teen acne .
After two months of being uncomfortable I did something I’ve never done before ; I started taking a look at my lifestyle and realized I needed to change . Skin is the biggest indicator of what is going on inside your body . If your body is happy , your skin will be happy too . And obviously my body was pissed off at me . I hadn’t been drinking water like I should , wearing makeup every single day , I was eating bullshit and the stress ... Lord , the stress does a number on your body !
Instead of going to see a dermatologist I decided to self medicate internally . I started drinking 100 oz of water a day , eating clean (especially green veggies) and making sure I do something active everyday , even if it’s just running around with my kids . Doing these things also caused my stress to ease as well . I can say that I’m starting to see my skin take a turn for the better . You can still see some activity (specifically on my chest) but it is nowhere near the state of my skin from two months ago . I feel like me again !!!! [continued in comments section]
