Depending on who you ask, this fruit could either elicit craving 🤤 or disgust 🤮. Durian is a popular Southeast Asian fruit that comes in many varieties. In the Philippines, it is primarily found in Davao city, which has been dubbed the country’s “durian capital.” It's (in)famous with its distinctively pungent scent but don't let that deter you from trying its sweet creamy flesh. You could always start with durian candies, jams, ice cream, coffee and other durian treats to warm you up before diving into its full rich-flavored glory. Curious? We bet you are! Tap ❤️ if you wanna experience the durian flavor in a future Chibundle! Sign up via link in bio to know when we launch!
Having a hard time to choose? Let us make it easy for you! We've curated a special set menu for you with drink recommendations! Choose from 3 sets or choose all! 😁 Available Monday to Saturday from 15 to closing. Go get 'em! #pobrefilipino
Rambutan — lychee’s cuzzo that looks like a magical forbidden fruit that will take you on a trip to see your ancestors. Rambutan flourishes in the tropical areas of SE Asia and was one of my childhood favorites. It was always a struggle opening one of these things because it would be covered with ants and I’d have to battle it out just to get to the middle. I’d say it was worth it.

Puto: one of the many Filipino kakanin (native delicacies made with rice or root crops). It’s steamed Filipino rice cake that can be enjoyed on its own, topped with cheese or paired with savory dishes like pansit (noodles) and dinuguan (pork blood stew). This takes me back to days when, as a kid, I would wait for that familiar honk that signifies the puto hawker is nearby. Hit ❤️ if you can relate and share your own kakanin memories with us!
Thanks to @kitchconfidante for the 📸 and the nostalgia! Visit their blog for the puto recipe + so many more delightful dishes.
Happy Registered Dietitian Day to all my fellow RDs! Let’s continue to push the envelope and speak our truth on all things food-related and beyond 💫 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here’s a photo of an epic meal we had in Manila at a carinderia (🇵🇭 Filipino Mom and Pop food stall) that fed my soul. For me, “healthy eating” is bigger than how much carbs/protein/fat I’m eating. Let’s remember that food is also connected to nature, culture, emotions, and our wellbeing. Food is meant to be enjoyed and celebrated, with love. Oh, and before you get nutritional advice from someone claiming they’re a food and nutrition expert, please do your research. ✨✌🏽✨
Beautiful photo and reminds me that for an old worn out cook I can sometimes put my fancy pants on if need be.
Shout out to @ciaowinnipeg for the spotlight spread in the last issue and to @on_my_walk_today for the great article.
Photo magic by @ianmcc the wizard.
Props to my homeboy @onfiyah that shared the issue and for getting our @filipinofoodmovement on. Working together to spread the love of Filipino cuisine.
Seen here is my tuna and salmon kinilaw, with @fresh_forage microgreens and edible flowers, vegan salmon roe , Thai chili, shallots, coconut vinegar, coconut milk and ube extract pickled daikon.
Look out for our new project R & D pop collective. Bringing the cities best and brightest under one roof for the entire summer.
I don't know if this has a local Filipino name, but this is ground pork, potato and bok choy soup. Quick to prepare and perfect for lunch on a rainy day. Becca loved it and ate a lot! I was so happy, as she usually doesn't eat green leaves. Maybe the trick is chopping them small!

Comment if you know what this Filipino breakfast staple is! Hint: starts with an L. 😉 This particular variety of the well-loved Filipino sausage is lucban, which is the name of the town in the province of Quezon🇵🇭 from which it’s commonly made. It has a distinctive garlicky taste that will surely spice up your morning! Add in rice with some vinegar dip and you’re all set!
