National Wildlife Day - aims to bring awareness to the number of endangered animals nationally, as well as globally. The date will be permanently changed this year in honour of wildlife conservationist and animal lover Steve Irwin's birthday.
this baby photo was taken a few months ago and every time I see these majestic creatures in their natural habitat my appreciation for them and the struggles they face for survival is reinforced.
there are many arguments atm for the culling of these prehistoric creatures, and as someone who knows what pain can be caused in families, on the rare occasions that a loved one is taken, a loss of under any circumstance is always heartbreaking, but is no fault of a creature that is surviving the way they have for centuries.
I have always strongly believed that education is what is required perhaps if all of those who love these beautiful creatures can come up with an information booklet that can be made available not only as part of our school education but also on all airlines/hotels for visitors coming into our pristine part of the world.
Make it fun as well as informative hell I grew up with hector the cat teaching me how to cross the road. Get the local schools involved, a competition perhaps?
A place that relies on tourism should embrace ALL of its natural beauty!
We have signs telling us what side if the road to drive on, what speed to drive and yet there have been way more unfortunate deaths on the road between cairns and here than from these beautiful creatures.
We live in a unique ecosystem, one of the most beautiful places on the planet, one that has thrived for millions of years...lets not be a generation that destroys these creatures for future generations; rather be a generation who through education learns to appreciate.
I asked a 13YO today if they thought crocs should be culled, their reply was NO and when asked why “because they are COOL” and yes very cool they are!
Tell me if you know who the photo is by! Our world is beautiful and you can’t deny that. But fossil and an unnatural amount of deaths are being occurred due to more more intense natural disasters. I do believe that the world is constantly changing but I also believe that we are making it worse. The ice caps are melting, you may know that, you may also know that carbon dioxide is being released. But did you know that the melting ice caps are also releasing bacteria that is thought to be over 25000 years old! Yikes. We need to take action. This may be natural just like the earth removed dinosaurs all those years ago. But what if it’s not. Take action not only for the love of wildlife but for the survival of humanity. I had to say this because even though I tell people the horrible things that is happening to wildlife, still a lot of people ignore it, but when I tell them what could happen to humanity that gets more people listening. #savethewildlife#carefortheworld
Seeing the leopard in the wild was definitely my highlight during the game drive in the Masai Mara National Park. I was so lucky to see the big five again this time 🐆 Can't wait to go on my next safari!
Gina was out on the range Sunday and was so touched by how Scarlett has been accepted into Samson's band. There was a time, when Blondie kicked her out, that she ran between Samson and her natal band. We watched this take place, and like some things in the wild, it really pulled at our heart. You see, contrary to the inbreeding propaganda, wild horses know what to do with of age colts and fillies. And they also know when a band breeding is acceptable. But Cree breeding Scarlett, his full sister, would not be OK, so she had to go as the eldest.
Samson willingly bred her, but then sent her away, as did his mares. In fact, the mares didn't just send her away, they chased her with pinned ears.
We went out every day, to check on her, never interfering, just checking on her. For a good while she grazed at a distance from Samson's band, occassionally moving closer. On a few occassions, she would stand on one side of Samson, while the mares were on the other side, most notably, Moon.
And when Gina and I talked today, she was telling me how the mares were grooming with her, grazing with her, and how she was fully accepted into the band sisterhood. It really touched her!
Way to go Scarlett... you're quite a girl! 📷@GReiboldt
2018 has been a great learning curve. Enjoying the process of progression. Working hard on all areas of my life to unlock authenticity and potential. I’ve been WISHING for this day since I was 8 years old; but it’s amazing how WORKING gets the job done! Loads of training on and off the bike and getting my head in the right place. Focusing on the controllable variables and having true confidence when I know I can ride to the best of my ability. Let everything else fall into place. Can not believe I finally took a win today! Everyone has been riding so well this season! Awesome battle with @dudeabides122 today! ———————————————————————— Thank you to everyone for the love, support, advice, coaching and belief!
