Whey protein is more anabolic than BCAAs, since it has a more complete amino acid profile
- High-quality protein is already ~20% BCAAs
- They are of no benefit to muscle mass, strength, or muscle soreness
- There is no evidence of usefulness during caloric restriction
BCAAs are important, but you can get them from high-quality protein, and they are of no benefit when compared to whey. Save your money!
This is about as real as it gets 😳 no flexing, no angles, no perfect lighting.. just me. And here’s the story behind these pictures. The last 2 weeks, since the Arnold has come and gone, I haven’t been dieting or tracking my food, and honestly I’ve been doing okay with it. Last week I didn’t track a thing and I definitely didn’t intuitively eat, if we’re being honest- I don’t even know how to do that. This week I started following @rpstrength templates, so far it’s been great. I know these first 3 weeks or so are going to be super challenging- mentally, emotionally and physically. I’ll be eating WAY MORE food than I’ve eaten in the last like 5 years- real talk. I’ve always eaten far less than 2,000 calories and I was STILL having to cut to make weight at 72kgs, I’m an idiot. Since I can remember I’ve been in a caloric deficit, with the occasional (sometimes frequent) binge. Honestly, I didn’t think my constant dieting was effecting my performance in the gym, nor did I think my body was having any issues with it. That is, until I looked back and realized my lifts have been pretty stagnant for the last year or so (there’s no reason for me to have missed all of my third attempts at the Arnold). My lack of progress physically (despite my caloric deficit) and not getting stronger was my body’s way of telling me something was wrong. So I’m finally listening to it. And while I’m uncomfortable being this “thick” for the time being, I know this will make me better. Today was my Grandma Warrick’s Birthday... and I couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate her than doing a mud run for the first time with these amazing people! I started using cricket protein a few months back. Yeah, CRICKET protein. 🦗🦗🦗Those who know me pretty well know I am actually TERRIFIED of crickets.... black little noisy devils! Who jump! [ no filter ] It’s been a little over a month since I started @rpstrength. Truth: I haven’t been overly consistent. Meaning I’ve had a fair amount of pizza and sour patch kids, but I’m impressed with the progress I’ve made. I could only imagine where I would be if I could stay away from stuffed crust. Worked up to a top banded triple on "car deadlifts". I did 3 plates, but the video didn't work so heres 2 plates and a 25. Then I top off the bands and did 3 AMRAPs. Wasn't feeling it today, but I put in the work #strongmansaturday
