Roy Levesta Jones Jr. is an American professional boxer, boxing commentator, boxing trainer, rapper, and actor who holds dual American and Russian citizenship. He is a former four-weight world champion, having held titles at middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight, and is the only boxer in history to start his professional career as a light middleweight and go on to win a heavyweight title. As an amateur he represented the United States at the 1988 Summer Olympics, winning a silver medal in the light middleweight division. Jones, who is considered by many to be one of the best boxers of all time, pound for pound, left his mark in the sport's history when he won the WBA heavyweight title in 2003, becoming the first former middleweight champion to win a heavyweight title in 106 years. He also became the undisputed light heavyweight champion in 1999, by unifying the WBA, WBC, and IBF titles. The Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) named Jones as the "Fighter of the Decade" for the 1990s. He was also named Fighter of the Year for 2003 by the World Boxing Hall of Fame. During his prime, Jones was known for possessing exceptional hand speed, athleticism, movement and reflexes. #royjonesjr#rj#sulerman#captainhook#p4p#boxing#hbo#hboboxing#boxvilleinc
Silva looking for bout with Jones jr. Silva, one of the greatest UFC champions of all time, said his legal team is currently working with USADA, the UFC’s anti-doping partner, on the case. Silva, 42, tested positive for two banned substances — methyltestosterone and a diuretic — in a sample collected Oct. 26, sources confirmed with MMA Fighting earlier this month. Methyltestosterone is considered a synthetic anabolic steroid. “The Spider” is facing up to a two-year suspension or possibly even more if USADA takes into account his past failed drug test. Silva tested positive for the steroids drostanolone and androsterone in 2015. At the time, Silva claimed that the banned substances had come from a Thai sex drug and the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) suspended him one year for the violation.
I’m just waiting for USADA and my lawyers,” Silva said. “And hopefully they came back soon for fight for Roy Jones.” Silva, who held the UFC middleweight title from 2006 to 2013, has been hoping to compete in boxing against Roy Jones Jr. for years. Jones recently said he was retired from boxing, but left open the door for a bout against his longtime friend Silva. “That’s my dream,” Silva said. “Hopefully, this fight comes.” #ufc#boxing#mma#crossover#goat#legends#rjj#royjonesjr#andersonsilva#thespider#mmaapparel#cagewarriors#jiujitsu#bjj#octagon#superfight#training#gym#bellator#grappling#fight#kickboxing#wrestling
On This Day in Boxing
Joe Calzaghe W KO7 Mger Mkrtchian, 21st February 2004.
Calzaghe moved to 37 - 0 and retained his WBO World Super Middleweight Title with an emphatic stoppage victory over his Armenian challenger.
Mkrtchian was inexperienced at the top level, but his only career defeat prior to facing Calzaghe had come at the hands of future world champion Denis Inkin. The 'Pride of Wales' built up a big lead on the cards in the first half of the fight before he brought a sudden end to proceedings in the seventh round. Calzaghe dropped Mkrtchian with a blistering barrage of punches and, despite the Armenian beating the count, he was deemed unable to continue by the match referee.
Calzaghe went on to register notable wins over Jeff Lacy and Sakio Bika before defeating the then unbeaten, 39-0, Mikkel Kessler to unify the WBO, WBC and WBA Super World Super Middleweight Titles. The Welsh wizard then moved up in weight to defeat the legendary Bernard Hopkins for The Ring light heavyweight title and defended the title against the great Roy Jones Jr. in his final professional contest.
He retired with a perfect record of 46 (32 KOs) - 0 and remains one of the greatest World champions that Britain has ever produced.

Sports is about passion. But it does go too far at times. Hoping Kim and her family are doing well considering. No one should have to go through that emotional roller-coaster. Go Team Canada Go! I still remember the #RoyJonesJr robbery from #Seoul88 . Talking about unfair.
