When I look at this #throwback photo I’m reminded of a time I was incredibly "in the zone.” Everything about roping that day seemed effortless. I was focused, yet calm, and the three go-round wins and average win showed it. Even though I wasn’t riding my own horse, I was very confident in my horse and my partner.
But our confidence doesn’t have to come from our circumstances, or the quality of our last practice. In fact, if we’re allowing outside factors to influence how we feel leading up to competition, we’ll be playing a losing game.
Many of us have experienced days like this when everything seems to go right and we’re just on a roll, but then we lose touch with it by the following weekend. So how can we “get back in the zone” intentionally?
My best suggestion is to find ‘triggers’ that intensify your energy and focus to help put you in the ideal state of mind for competition. This might include one or more of the following: affirmations, music, podcasts, positive communication with peers, etc. Also, don’t underestimate the power of getting adequate rest and eating a quality diet to ensure your mood is positive and your brain and body is functioning at maximum capacity.
️As an exercise, consider thinking back to a time when you felt absolutely dominant in competition. What three words describe how you felt in your body? Write them down, and each time before you compete, review them and/or recite them mentally. Use these words in combination with the other triggers mentioned above to intentionally ignite the fire inside you! 🔥

It's been a little over a year since @aselliott717 and I started #TeamRoping with #ProRodeo#WorldChampion and #PRCAHallofFame inductee @mikebeersteamroper. Mike is, to put it simply, #BADASS . He provides experienced horses, honest gear/ equipment advice and teaches us to be safe while we progress in our respective #Rodeo "careers." Whether you're looking to try roping once or working to be a world champion, #MikeBeers provides the only turn-key outfit in North America and possibly, in the world! I hope this video I put together does Mike some justice. Of course the experience wouldn't be complete without Mike's wife, @barbara.beers and his two whipping boys @cooperrussell @codygabruch! Thank you to @mrmrsmoore9714 and @thecreepypeepee for introducing us to this awesome sport! @prca_prorodeo #prorodeohalloffame#roper#dji#mavicpro#GoPro#horse#quarterhorse
Ellie's boots are even cuter in person. She was so excited when we first opened them, had to try them on right away lol. (Took forever to even get this pic of her, she kept running away)
