Came down to the wire today for my #tiptuesday but I got it. A lot of producers use a sidechain on the bass and kick drum to keep the two frequencies working in tandem and lets the kick jump through it or even pump in edm/dance stuff. But have you tried it on your guitars fed from the lead vocals so the guitar ducks when the vocals come in for rock? It’s a good trick to have up your sleeve for busy and huge guitar stuff when automation (or a deesser) isn’t cutting it. Keep attack and release fast as well as to make sure your ratio is low(2:1 is usually good). This is about keeping it subtle
