COLOUR SORTING POM POMS 🌈
Little loves colours at the minute. She finds colours everywhere and is beginning to want to sort so we set up an invitation to sort with her favourite resource, pom poms. She loves those tactile little balls of toddler joy!
We worked on fine motor skills with the gator grabbers (the learning resource tweezers are a bit too tricky for her yet) and she instantly wanted to sort the colours. I had painted some garden seed planters I found in the garage but egg cartons would work just as well as an easy sorting tray. I also covered the tray in tin foil just as an extra sensory experience. -
Little loves our new colour book by Alain Gree and so do I. The illustrations and words are just beautiful and our favourite colour book to date! 🌈
The pom-poms were the perfect resource to sort, grab with the tools, move with her hands and also led to us balancing as many as possible on her hands (seven, before she couldn't resist throwing them off!). They were also the perfect size for her favourite game, she calls 'My Challenge' where I say a colour, she finds it and I have to cheer loudly. She laughs and laughs and it has proven the perfect way to learn her colours. 🌈
