⚡️⚡️⚡️Another beautiful piece by @katscales86! You may have seen her other artwork from @alwaysevolvingpythons. This is of an African painted dog 🐶 an animal that I fell in love with the first time I saw one in person💙. The photo does not do it justice. Some of the paint has a gold sheen and the colors just P🗯P!! Please go check out her page!
What kind of page would I have if I didn’t add a snake 😅
This is our Female Bumblebee. Her colors are fading with every shed but her pattern is still beautiful and and the black on her head remains dark. ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
I needed to do something to Beleth’s tub and didn’t have enough hands so I plunked her into this hanging basket. I thought it would be a fun activity for her to figure out how to get down but she was pretty content to just chill in the basket for quite a while. Eventually she got bored and wanted down. She has never been a very competent climber, but she has always been an intrepid one and seemingly undaunted by trivial matters like the stability of a given perch or which way is up. She did manage to get down unassisted this time and didn’t even fall! #royalpython#ballpython#pythonregius#pythonsofinstagram
Here’s a different animal in the house. We breed some of our own food. But this girl is a pet. But this odd eye cinnamon somehow got out last night and we found her. All of 2 feet from her cage hiding in a bag of food!
This stupid little asshole just finally ate for the first time in almost 15 months. We moved him from a tub that he outgrew and that we were having trouble heating properly to a nice PVC with heat mat and radiant heat and the hunger strike started. Tbh I didn't really think he was ever going to start eating again but when I tried two weeks ago he struck and missed and then gave up.
I tried again today and he struck and missed on the first try, then again on the second, but then on the third he finally grabbed the rat by the head.
I tried everything except live feeding because I love ASFs (the only live rats available in Alberta) and I a) just couldn't bring myself to do it and b) couldn't afford another pet if he didn't take it. Plus with his wobble idk if I trust him to be able to kill one.
Hopefully he'll just eat every week now. He was such a voracious snake before so 🤞🤞🤞🤞
Inb4 it turns out he just dragged the rat into his hide and it's still in there 🙃
Story time! Last year I was lucky enough to have all healthy babies born from 2 clutches... except this girl. She is a killer queen bee, one of the combos that I was in love with when I was younger. She didn't eat for months, she was frail and emaciated. Asked everyone I knew for help, but unfortunately nothing worked. I took her to my boss who force fed her (he had done it many times before) and a week after that I started assist feeding her. She was taking her meals on and off, only eating the smallest red hots I could find. I was told she wouldn't make it and I should just have her euthanized and move on. I decided I was going to stick with her and see what I could do. Fast forward to today and she is nailing a couple fuzzy mice at a time every week. I am slowly increasing the size of mice I feed her in hopes to get her up to a rat pup here soon, but I couldn't be happier now that she is eating consistently. Always so grateful that she is okay now because she was going to die with how things were going. She will always stay in the collection with me and I can't wait to see her grow up. Just because things may look like they are going wrong, don't give up. Give it your all. I wouldn't be able to see her eating today if I had given up on her. I don't name many of my snakes, but I gave her the name Amari, meaning strength. Thought it fit her well! 😄Breeding isn't all sunshine and rainbows, and I am sure there will be plenty more bumps in the road. That doesn't mean I wont do everything I can to try to fix things. Can't wait to see what this next season brings! I wish you all luck on your clutches and for healthy babies!!! 🐍😊 _____________________________________
