Easter is coming! A few weeks ago I tired the Thoroughbread Paleo Hotcross Buns 😍 i purchased them on a Friday from @naturallyorganicnz and had finished the lot by Sunday... oops 😝 I may have had a Hotcross bun for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I am obsessed with the spicy flavours! 😂👍🏼 ps. I love mine toasted with chia jam on top 👍🏼
Took a leap and tried cauliflower mash tonight... It wasn't bad, but it wasn't fabulous either.
You win some and you lose some, we ate it this time but I need to try it a few more times before I think it's something we would love!
Being in the kitchen for me is therapeutic, and making healthy swaps and finding good food makes it much better on my waist line.
I'm grateful to be done worrying about everything I put in my mouth!
And Portioning my food out and still eating what I want is way less stressful.
We used to overload on bad carbs, cheese and sauces.
I'm learning to make better tasting food without any of those things, but sometimes things just don't work out.
Like everything in life, dust off and try again!
Have you made cauliflower mash before?
Have any tips/tricks for me?
QUALITY PROTEIN IS YOUR BODIES BUILDING BLOCK
Many people are beginning to realize that unfermented soy is not a healthy food. They're looking for alternatives... One of the best options is WHEY. However, there's a wide range of whey available out there... There are 7 grades possible:
Grade 1 and 2 would be the dog and cat food level. Grade 3 and 4 are most commercially available whey protein powders (processed to death, non-organic, still with many impurities, may contain artificial growth hormones if the cows were injected with them, probably laden with pesticides residue, and may even contain heavy metals). Grade 5 would be your typical domestic organic whey, which still doesn't insure that those cows aren't over-milked, that they graze on grass outside exclusively...
And the premium quality whey ISAGENIX, is Grade 7, which comes from "happy cows" in New Zealand, that spend their days on the pasture and eat grass only, are milked according to the season, are never injected with steroids and hormones, never fed corn... Those cows produce superior quality milk, way above our USDA prescribed organic standards, and that raw organic milk is put through a series of fine filters to remove other dairy components such as fats and lactose, which is a cold process, as the milk is never heated above 110 F (to preserve live enzymes), uses no acids, and the final product is the best quality UNDENATURED* whey in the world!
Many people who normally don't tolerate dairy very well thrive on this kind of whey - and THIS is what I feed my own children and family! * Undenaturated means that the protein remains in its natural state, with protein folds left as they should be.
Chilling after a late Friday night workout.
Yes, you read that right. 🤗. After cheering my son on tonight at his high school track meet, I came home and hit “play”. Thank goodness I didn’t have to run out to the gym. Because that definitely would not have happened. (That’s one huge advantage to working out at home.) In fact before I joined my first challenge group, I never worked out. I was ok with just being #skinnyfat I had tried going to the gym various times but never had much success. Without seeing any results and having no real motivation, I eventually quit going. That all changed with my first challenge group.
~I found a great coach to help guide me.
~I was placed in an accountability group where I made many new friendships. ~I received daily motivation.
~I received support through my struggles and victories.
~Plus, I had an easy to follow nutrition plan
For the first time ever, I completed a program. I saw great results. I became stronger. I became leaner.
Most importantly, I learned how to make healthier choices and my body reflected it. When you start taking care of your body, it rewards you from the inside-out.
My family has taken notice. And I hope to be a large influence in their future health and habits.
Three years and still going strong 💪🏻
Challenge groups are key 🔑
If you’re ready to make some changes... if you’re ready to take control of your health but need some guidance and accountability, I’d love to guide you and to connect you to a great challenge group.
Comment 🙋🏻♀️ below or shoot me a message 😋. It’s never too late to get started. I started at 44.... I only wish I had started sooner.
#flexfriday , What's up FitFam 💪 👊? This is a late post of what will hopefully be my First Leg 🍑 Day of the week, not too shabby, Home Gym Day! I say "hopefully" due to Health issues that have been taking me out of commission lately. At any rate, today was more Quadcentric but I did do some Hamstring work.
I did the following: Elevated Ez-Curl Front Squats, Zercher Squats, High bar Squats, some Conventional Deads, and Bicep Curls. I also did some Dumbell Stiff Deads in between a few of the Quad sets. I then began to incorporate elevated Close Stance Dumbell Squats, Cannonball Goblet Squats, and Dumbell Front Squats. I also did some Abducter exercises as well.
My last half of the session, I did the following: Ez-Curl Front, Zercher, High bar, Dumbell Cannonball Goblet, and Close Stance with my tied Dumbells. I also did some elevated Stationary Front Lunges with Bodyweight Kneeling Leg Extensions.
I ended the evening with several more Zercher, Conventional Deads, Stiff Deads, Close Stance Squats, Glute Bridges, and some Cardio. I could tell that my body was feeling crappy so I shortened the session. What did you guys hit today? Keep killing it out there FitFam 💪 #killeverything 🏋️
