What a wonderful time participating in #Ontopo Tulum, an artists residency, in a luxurious setting in the jungle. Where the meaning of performance is explored in a natural setting, a welcoming contrast to our city lives. .
A couple of notable experiences thus far: I did a vocal piece with a vocalist/syntheist from NY, named Monika, in an underground cave while floating in the water, it also happened to be a bat cave with hundreds of bats, stalactites and stalagmites. I used a Mayan wind instrument as well, which emitted the sound of the eagle..
A scientist named Tara May, another participant in Ontopo explained the biosphere and the importance of the mangroves to Mexico and then we set off on a journey, we wore life vests like diapers and floated through a narrow canal full of beautiful and crystalline water while inhaling the purest of air with the mangroves enclosing us. Three of us women did a vocal harmonization piece while floating and drifting under the open sky. Extremely beautiful. A nourishing feminine aspect to contrast the cold and dark caves of the day before. At the end of the boat and float journey we sat on the earth at the base of a Mayan temple ruin and did a breath workshop with Tara May to explore the depth of understanding the symbiotic relationship of receiving and emitting both oxygen and co2. .

Little tip about the muscles... A motor unit is a motor neuron and all of the muscle cells (muscle fibers) it stimulates. The strength of a muscle contraction is determined by the size and number of motor units being stimulated. for example, have you ever gone to pick up a box and thought it was heavy than it actually was, and use more force then nessary causing you to almost lose balance. This is because you brain recruits motor units based on the amount thought to be needed to complete a particular task.
These cells can be minipulate inorder to increase the size of the contractions, concluding in faster or stronger movements. The manipulation can occur through adding weight to the movements such as punching. This creates a muscle/mind memory connection causing your mind to recruit more motor unit once the weight is not longer being used.
