Full (320x200) 16-color graphics and a working 720K floppy drive confirmed. This new XT clone is great. Now to find a working MFM hard drive to throw in with the Seagate HD controller card i got with it. Makes me want a 720K drive in my Zenith, but with only 2 drive bays, i'd have to go with an external option. Having twice the disk capacity to work with is pretty nice though, especially on a system with no HD. I remember @jenwiley515 getting pretty into this game. #crystalcaves#apogeesoftware#pcxt#xtclone
A pile of good stuff. The XT clone (no hard drive unfortunately), another XT motherboard, a Socket 7 motherboard, some random ISA cards, and Dr. HALO Plus on 5.25" floppies. $25 got me everything you see here. #pcxt#8088
Whoops, bought another XT clone. EGA card, two floppy drives, and a "dead" hard drive. Let's see if i can resurrect it. He had a 5154 and some random XT keyboard too, but they went for way more than i was willing to spend. This is more my price range for old stuff. Local Pickup Only is your friend....if you're close enough to take advantage. #ebay#xtclone#pcxt
Went back on what i said earlier...the wifi232 is in my bedroom now hooked up to my Zenith instead of the 5160. Decided to not be lazy and resolve the IRQ conflict with the serial port on the SixPakPlus. Had to experiment with the jumper settings a bit but now my Logitech Mouse and the wifi232 are playing nicely. Shouldn't have to open this machine up again any time soon now (🤞) #wifi232#zenithz158#pcxt#necv20
I'd put my wifi232 away for a while, but i'm glad i got it out again last night. Been downloading some programs on the 5160 to mess with. Getting files directly to the computer from BBS' via wi-fi on a 32-year-old, 4.77mhz machine with 512K of ram and CGA graphics feels extremely magical. Figured i couldn't let my Zenith have all the fun, and that i'd let the 5160 be my dedicated BBS machine for a while. #bbs#warez#wifi232#ibm5153#ibm5160#pcxt
Since i robbed the SixPakPlus out of my 5160, i kinda forgot that that was where most of the ram the machine was using was located. As to not completely cripple the machine back to the factory 256K, i was luckily able to easily find the dipswitch settings online for my Quadram Quadboard to give the system back an additional 256K, bringing it up to a completely useable 512K. #5160#pcxt#8088#ibm#ibm5160#quadramquadboard
My beloved Zenith Z-158 is now loaded with all the capabilities i could dream of (that will fit), and everything is working perfectly. Aside from the stock cards and the V20/8087 combo on the CPU end, i have a Soundblaster-16, a Zenith VGA card, and tonight's addition, the AST SixPakPlus that was in my 5160 when i got it, which i installed purely for the real-time clock, as this thing already has 640k of RAM from the factory, and the SB16 has a joystick port. Works great..and totally Y2K compliant, contrary to popular belief. Just installed a fresh battery so now the date and time are correct when i boot into Windows 1.0. The only other additions i'd really want at this point would be a 3.5" disk drive that supports hi-density disks (which i could only do if i found a half-height 5.25/3.5 combo drive and changed the BIOS), and maybe a 40MB MFM hard drive, but 20 is plenty big for this thing. #pcxt#zenithz158#8088#necv20
Back in business, 937K of bad sectors on the hard drive though...not great for a 10MB drive, but as long as it works at all, i'm happy. Also the PC version of Pole Position is terrible. #5160#ibm5160#pcxt#ibmpc#poleposition#cga
Startup and second demo of soundblaster capabilities on the Zenith Z-158. Even though i have a real IBM 5160, i kind of enjoy the XT clone systems more. Love this computer to death. Reminds me a lot of the Kaypro PC i grew up with...only with all the upgrades i wish i'd had then. #zenithz158#zenithdatasystems#pcxt#sb16

Un proyecto que nos ha llevado 5 meses por la dificultad de conseguir algun componente que se logró encontrar en Japon.
The 5160 up and running. The 5153 has some slight burn-in and one small crack in the case but otherwise a nice example. Super happy to have a legitimate XT for the first time. I've wanted one since i was a kid. #PCXT#5160#5153#IBM
Good trade yesterday. Let go of my Mac SE FDHD and got this very complete 5160 with a 5153, original Model F, a ProPrinter, and plenty of documentation. 10MB hard drive. Been wanting a real XT for a long time and this setup is pretty much exactly what i was looking for. Needs a little work but should be good to go soon. Stay tuned. Now if only i could find somebody to trade me a T50 transmission for the A40 in this thing... #PCXT#IBM#5153#5160#IBMPC
