big city blues 💙

the mighty mehrangarh fort and the 16th century city walls tower over the blue city of jodhpur. the old city is a web of weaving, medieval and chaotic lanes never seeming to head in a straight line - it’s far too easy to get lost (which we did a time or two)! traditionally, the blue signifies the home of a brahmin, india’s caste for hindu priests and teachers. painting the buildings blue helps with the heat and keeps termites away (the blue is made from a combination of limestone and copper) so others join in nowadays. one thing‘s for sure, this city knows how to use its rooftops! enjoying some spectacular views - including monkeys running atop the jumble of buildings!
