A surprising find in Metung. A representation of the Charles Edward, a paddle steamer that originally sailed from Scotland and ferried folks between Melbourne and the Gippsland Lakes in the mid-nineteenth century. Intrepid travellers they must have been! It was eventually sold off to New Zealand in the 1870s.
Lots of happy passengers off to spend two hours at @morrisonswinerymoama for lunch and some wine tastings.
Very popular for groups, hens and birthday parties or taking the family out for lunch in style. Starting from $23pp #echuca#murrayriver#paddlesteamer Pevensey #discovermurrayriver
Hi everyone 🤓how’s your week going. Got an awesome pic for you here of my mates boat. He built it him self. Only took him 5 years 🧐. He’s my go to person. We talk endlessly about working on boats. He’s built like 5 in his time. After re building mine. Iv learnt my lesson. I would not want to go through all this again. One major boat rebuild in my life will do me 🧐 We are now 21 days till I’m due to depart. I know I haven’t made any vids on the build up to departure. After the false start we had on Boxing Day. Iv been reluctant. But I can’t see anything stopping us this time. I’ll keep you all updated. #boat#boats#niceday#paddlesteamer#boatlife#boatlifestyle#livingthedream#wow#sydney#sydneyaustralia#australia @hahahahappier @amy0082 @summerbrezn @riverhoods @num1vette @veeburdy @sailingbadfish @back_engelx3 @barbarabates2283
This photograph was sent to us by our very charming Tour Guide Vinny🌟. Our luxury coaches take PS Murray Princess passengers from #Adelaide to #Mannum and back again in style. 🚍👌 See more of the Murray River in South Australia with us! ⛴🌳🌿
The Ryde Queen. These are some photos I took between 2004 and 2006. This old paddle steamer, the PS Ryde, saw active service and was also a nightclub where it now rots at Island Harbour on the Isle of Wight. Several attempts have been made to rescue it but over the years it has mainly been damage limitation. Storms blew over the main funnel and eventually this had to be removed - just one example. .
It is sad but I think so many of these ships disappeared completely, whilst a few have been preserved and are still working. It was an amazing ship but not the only, nor the last, of its kind. As a rust and decay lover, I feel at least we get a little bit extra with this one - its continuing decay shows a different beauty. I must return before it goes completely.
At 106 yrs of age this old steamer has worked many hard yards on the #murrayriver A fact of PS Pevensey is she holds the record for the most wool bales carried on any #paddlesteamer @echucapaddlesteamers #helloworldwin
