This week, I have been participating in my sweet friend @aubreyyrenee virtual mindfulness retreat, Recalibrate. Each day, I’ve learned something new about myself + each day I feel like I have more and more questions. More curiosity about life. I am finding my breath + learning to let negative thoughts + energy go. The start of this year has been kinda ah! So many thoughts about work, our photo business, about almost turning 30 + all the adult things. This retreat could not have come at a more perfect time. Learning to SLOW the eff down. To be present. To breathe. To give myself grace. To do things for me. To believe in my abilities. To find the positive. And to love — others + most importantly, myself.💛 _____________________
Ps. You should be following @aubreyyrenee if you don’t already. Her page is like a warm hug of tea, trees, puppies + the most beautiful words all in one pocket of love. She sells beautiful mediations too, so you should get on that, yo! Pss. If you don’t follow our photo biz account, it would be fun for you to see our work over there👉🏼 @coldironphotography !😘
I had a thought on my mind this morning. First for how grateful I am for this life we have together (I use the word grateful a lot, which is why I created this shirt), but also about how many people always wonder how we're always finding time to take little trips and travel.
Many friends say that we're ALWAYS on the road, and that we're so lucky. But, we aren't lucky. We CREATE that lifestyle for ourselves.
We actually have 9-5's! We woke up at the beach this morning because we drove after we left work yesterday! So a few things to think about when traveling:
1.) Travel on your weekends! It doesn't have a to be this grandiose trip.
2.) Explore a local town or city! It doesn't have to be some magic far away place.
3.) Like Nike, just DO it. Stop saying maybe next month. Take the damn trip.
4.) Have good company. You can put me anywhere in the world, and as long as I have @josheaton by my side, I am (quite literally) a happy camper.
5.) Get creative with your budget. Don't have a camper? Take a tent. Hotel too expensive? Use Airbnb or VRBO. Adventures come in many shapes and sizes.
Where are your favorite local places to visit? What's your preferred form of vacationing? #morelovemoreadventures 🌲🏕️🏖️
If the mountains were ground to make room for the breeze, and the pine needles grew into palm tree leaves.
If what once was a home becomes different and new, it will still be a home, given you’ll be there too.
After sitting on the tarmac for almost two hours waiting for snow removal and de-icing, we are almost wheels up and off the the Yukon for #ChasingAuroras .
Hopefully a little foreshadowing, courtesy of @chaseteron. The kid is a wildly talented photographer. Go give him some love.
It has been 26 days since Tonto was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Left untreated his life expectancy would have been +/- 4-6 weeks - it's scary to think had we not started him on Chemo that he would be in that window. We were nervous about the treatment this past week as we were told this drug was the hardest in the protocol and I am happy to report that he is doing AWESOME! A lot has changed for him the past few weeks and as with anything Tonto does, he has accepted everything with a waging tail! Things have shifted for us as well as we make him and his health our top priority. About a year ago a friend and I started planning an extended backpacking trip through Asia for this winter. When Tonto got sick it was a no brainer that I would not be making that trip for the length of time I had planned, and it was a seriously reality I might not be making the trip at all. Tonto would always come first! Since Tonto has a break in his treatments, I have changed my plans around to take the trip for a much shorter time. I am leaving next week and I will be home in time for his second round of his next weekly treatments. Meanwhile, Tonto will be safely at home with his Dad and his brother happily awaiting my return. They have some fun “boys weekend” plans and Tonto might even get to go to work a few times! Being my adventure partner for the past 12 years, I know Tonto would want me to go and while I will constantly worry about him, I know he will look forward to all of my stories and smells from my trip. Since I always like to have pictures with him in the places we go, I am bringing along a cardboard cutout of his head so that he is with me and if he needs me at all, I will be on the first flight home! This weekend we are going take advantage of all the new snow and enjoy some time together before I leave! Thank you - from the bottom of my heart - for continuing to think of us and send your love! Some people have asked to see more interior pictures of the van, I will try to take more to incorporate into my feed, but here is one in the meantime! Have a great weekend everyone! — @llbean #LiveLifeOffLeash#campingwithdogs#rescuedogsrock#roamfree#vanlife @project.vanlife
Today we arrived at the Wutach gorge in the wonderful Black Forest. On my little tour today I took my new watch with me.
Thanks a lot @kerbholzofficial for that little present for my current road trip!
