We got the beets this week for our #NewVegChallenge ! 
Beets are high in antioxidants, vitamin C, vitamin A, and folate! They are sweet, yet savoury, and can be eaten as is or in a wide variety of dishes! 
BONUS: the tops are edible too! Best served lightly steamed with salt and butter (yum!)

Apples were found to cut the growth of cancer cells in HALF 🍎🍏 And cranberries and lemons even more so! Maybe the whole “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” thing has something to it.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, in 2015 the World Health Organization recognized processed meats (bacon, sausage, hot dogs etc) as carcinogens. Yes, that’s the same thing that cigarettes are classified as 🤢 They literally put these meats in the same carcinogenic class for cancer risk as smoking and asbestos. Gross? You bet. 
So fill your day with foods that literally fight cancer growth. Not ones that encourage it.

Oie gente lindaaa, tudo bem? Afinal das contas o que é esse tal de glúten hein?Mocinho ou vilão? Glúten faz mau? Glúten ajuda no processo de emagrecimento?

Para começar, vamos entender o que é o glúten. O glúten é uma proteína (gliadina e glutenina) encontrados em grãos como trigo, cevada e centeio, conferindo a capacidade de absorção da água, coesão, viscosidade e elasticidade na massa (deixando aquele pãozinho delicioso mais fofinho sabe!?)

 O glúten pode sim fazer mal, mas apenas aquelas pessoas que já possuem uma sensibilidade a ele, que são as chamadas doenças autoimune que nesse caso é a doença celíaca.

A questão do emagrecimento é outro fator, algumas pessoas ao descobrir a doença celíaca passam a perder peso “rapidamente”, pelo fato de retirar bruscamente vários alimentos calóricos da rotina, como as massas (pão, bolo, macarrão, biscoito, cerveja, pizza), mas a partir do momento em que a pessoa começa o tratamento e aprende a se alimentar conforme a sua restrição mas mantendo o nível de ingestão de calorias adequada para o seu dia a dia o peso volta ao normal.

En los anaqueles hay un sin fin de productos comestibles, los últimos años la tendencia ha sido que la industria de los alimentos colocan a nuestra disposición productos mas industrializados y con ingredientes que les permiten durar mucho tiempo sin dañarse para evitar merma y bajar costos.
Lo ideal seria que todos tuviéramos acceso a una amplia gama de alimentos no procesados pero como la vida actual no lo permite, nos toca trabajar con lo que tenemos y tratar de hacer nuestro mejor esfuerzo en balancear la dieta con una buena parte de alimentos de origen natural y quedará una parte (casi inevitable) de alimentos procesados, pero aun cuando estos sean procesados la variación que puede haber entre “2 jugos de fruta” puede ser abismal en términos de nutrientes.

En pleno 2018 es difícil llevar una dieta 100% natural pero si debes poder saber seleccionar lo mejor de lo que hay disponible.

🥩’What do you think about the keto diet (or paleo, low carb, whatever else is popular these days)? Should I be doing it?’

🥑There’s a very simple answer to this type of question, so listen up if you’re are wondering the same thing. All nutritional strategies (better term that diets) have their advantages and disadvantages. What works for some of you won’t work for others. Ask yourself:

1️⃣Is this strategy helping me achieve my goals?

2️⃣Can I maintain this strategy in the long term?
.

👉If the answer is no to either of these then guess what? This ‘diet’ is not right for you, is it? Now yes, there may be circumstances where you go on a ‘diet’ for a short time, in order to reach a particular goal. However, I’m talking more here about long term health and lifestyle .

😒Lastly, if you haven’t even tried a certain strategy then my god, don’t ask if it will work or not! Try it and see what happens. That’s how we learn about our body’s capabilities and what’s works best for us. No one else!

🍫You guys know I love a protein bar as quick and convenient, protein filled snack and it's one of many snacks I advise my online coaching clients to have. However, many of the commercial bars are full of crap ingredients and not exactly cheap. What's the solution? Make your own 😍⠀

😋These ingredients make the best combo in my opinion, but I have swapped the flax meal for almond meal before, which worked. In terms of other proteins, I've never tried not using whey so I don't know how others will hold up ⠀

🍩Best thing is you can make these ahead of time and freeze them so you got 4 quick snacks to grab during the week. Be careful with the water though as its better to have too little and add more, then have too much and the mixture becomes too runny. You've been warned 👌⠀

🌱 Eating raw veggies has some additional advantages over cooked vegetables, particularly when consuming foods that are rich in heat-sensitive nutrients, vitamins A and C. High temperatures and longer cooking times can degrade or in some cases, destroy them, so definitely incorporate raw veggies into your diet when you can!

1. Saiz Sosej lebih gemuk, menggunakan Casing bersaiz 22 diameter berbanding sebelum ni 20 diameter saja.

2. Ukuran Sosej makin panjang. .

My boyfriend brought home spirazlied beet noodles last week and they were AMAZING (I don't normally love beets). We cooked and seasoned them  and they were a nice hearty but fresh food for the changing of the seasons. 🌿

Beets are great for pregnant mamas thanks to their folate content and help with detoxification. They also contain nitrates (the good kind) which help with blood flow and improve energy, performance and heart health. ❤️

BANANAS: Bananas contain bromelain, an enzyme that helps your body recover after a workout and also acts as a safeguard for your testosterone levels. This way, your T-count won’t dip after a long workout. Check out this study from the University of Tasmania. 15 elite cyclists were used as test subjects. The subjects raced in a competitive cycle race for 6 consecutive days..Researchers divided the participants into two groups. 
Group 1) 7 cyclists who received 1,000 mg’s of daily bromelain.  Group 2) 8 cyclists who received a similar-looking placebo.  As expected, the high amount of endurance exercise significantly lowered blood  testosterone levels in the placebo group. However, the group getting 1,000 mg’s of bromelain supplementation had stable  levels of testosterone throughout the 6 days of cycle racing.

POMEGRANATE: A study published in Endocrine Abstracts shows pure pomegranate juice consumption increases testosterone levels by 24% (19) . Here’s how the study went down. A controlled cross-sectional repeated measure study was carried out on 60 
volunteers. Daily saliva samples were collected morning and night, along with blood pressure. The result?
 Not only did daily pomegranate juice consumption lower blood pressure (making this a great beverage for men on BP meds or with a family history of high blood pressure), but testosterone increased 24% as mentioned above and overall mood improved also in participants. -
RAISINS: the best food source for boron concentration. 
Just 100 grams of raisins hold 3mg’s of boron. Which may not sound like a lot however, it’s 100% of the RDA and just about half of the 
recommended amount to maintain healthy testosterone production.

4:00 pm - Snack - 2 boiled eggs, carrots and cherry tomatoes.
8:00 pm - Dinner - Grilled homemade turkey burgers, steamed kale and baked sweet potatoes. I have some fruits after dinner.
10:00 pm - @foursigmatic Reishi mushroom elixir drink. It helps relaxes, destress and get amazing deep sleep!

I’ve realized something.
Most of the times, we won’t be completely honest with ourselves with what our dreams are.
What we really want in our lifes.
Most times we won’t dare to dream big. The fear of not reaching it will stop us.
We will only dare to dream small, things that may be hard to get, but that we have the certainty that are ‘possible’.
Why do we stop ourselves before even starting. 
What if I told you that  e v e r y t h i n g  is possible. No matter how many ‘buts’ you can now put in the way, you can have everything you want. Whatever it is.
You can have that dream job, you can travel, you can live in front of the beach, you can learn any new skills. 
All we need to do is dare to dream BIG. 
Be honest with what you want, and go for it.

3/4c chopped medjool dates (about 6oz) soaked in 1/3c hot water, 1c raw cashews, 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa, 1 tbsp carob powder, 1 c old fashion oats, 1 tsp vanilla... all blended in a food processor or high speed blender. Make into balls and roll in unsweetened coconut. Refrigerate to set...yum!

Sometimes we just refuse to sit down and finally write that report or essay, and instead find ourselves doing a ridiculous task like cleaning windows 😂

My personal favourite is “procrastibaking” – cooking or baking literally anything to prevent myself from having to do my work 🥙🥪🥞 For #wednesdaywellness this week, my top two tips for getting over the procrastination hump and getting some work done are -	Take a scheduled break every 45 minutes for at least 5 minutes 🙌🏼 This means get up from what you are doing, and move around – dance to a song, step outside, drink a big glass of water, whatever you feel like 💃🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🧘🏼‍♀️ Taking a break lets us feel like we’ve only just started work when we sit back down again and helps prevent brain fogginess ☁️ And -	Just start – even if you only plan on doing it for five minutes 
For example, if you’ve been putting off folding the mountain of washing in your laundry basket – tell yourself you’ll only do it for 5 minutes – if you last the 5 mins and decide you’ve had enough, at least you’ve made a start – and if you do the 5 mins and decide you’re happy to keep going, even better ✨✌🏼 How are you guilty of procrastinating? 😉

Have you ever been there before? Practically bursting with motivation, you tear into some new diet/workout strategy, trying to perfectly nail every aspect of it.

You see some great results initially, but this thing called being human gets in the way at some point and you meet failure.

Discouragement follows. You get down on yourself, and because you had a restrictive, perfection-based approach then you gradually lose the motivation needed to maintain that. With no new habits set in place, you burn out and end up where you started. Except more discouraged this time.

Start off making small changes here and there. Cut out most liquid calories. Get to the gym two or three times a week. Sleep for an extra hour every night...Realize that the key to the whole process is building new habits that will last.

Failure will still come, but when you have the end game and long term in mind, your persepctive is totally different. You don't get discouraged and can just bounce right back up. You are patient, and your overall trajectory is still going upwards. Inevitably, you will end up with a better, more flourishing lifestyle this way, because you refused to give up.

Small consistent successes is the focus to start. This will lead to big results, I promise! So many people get discouraged because they don’t see results right away and then give up. I thought I should provide a tidy little visual about WHY having the "consistent mindset" usually beats out the "perfection mindset". - Have you ever been there before? Practically bursting with motivation, you tear into some new diet/workout strategy, trying to perfectly nail every aspect of it. - You see some great results initially, but this thing called being human gets in the way at some point and you meet failure. - Discouragement follows. You get down on yourself, and because you had a restrictive, perfection-based approach then you gradually lose the motivation needed to maintain that. Enough said! Don't focus on the flaws but rather the strengths in your body. For example, I have always had bigger arms and a wobbly belly. I used to focus solely on that but now I look at my hazel eyes, my straight teeth, my crazy way hair and the fact that my arms are so strong. I also know that I am a caring person and I think that is the most important thing over looks. .
