Vamos todos numa linda passarela de uma aquarela que um dia enfim descolorirá... By @marcooddone #tbt#photooftheday#instame#nowlistening
Today is the 36th birthday of one of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time Iron Maiden’s 1982 quintessential 3rd album The Number of the Beast. Their first with singer Bruce Dickinson their last with the late Clive Burr on drums. Without any doubt Iron Maiden is my favorite band and I can’t count how many times I’ve listened to this one every word, every riff, every drum beat as been etched into my mind, heart, and soul. #ironmaiden#uptheirons#nowlistening#nowspinning#vinylcollection
CORPSEHAMMER - Sexo & Muerto
Corspehammer’s vocalist “Midnight Horror” reminds me of the protagonists in Lovecraft stories--the miserable old men who, pen in hand, scribble away frantically at their antique desks as a grotesque beast of ancient & evil origins batters away at their flimsy door. This isn’t to say that Midnight Horror is like unto an old man, but rather that he screams & gurgles like a man fully aware that the harbinger of his doom approacheth. Such is the frightening ambiance of Sexo & Muerte, the lead single from Corspehammer’s 3rd and latest EP (releases April 13th, Morbid Skull Records, limited print of 99).
Given that the translated title is “Sex & Death,” this brief track is wonderfully lacking in subtlety. The aforementioned vocals are a definite strong point--delivered at a frantic rate and imperfect pitch, they capture so effectively the urgency underlying the blackened death metal spirit. Particularly intriguing are the howls, which begin far in the back of the mix, adding a needed level of dynamism. Vox aside, Nekromonger (otherwise known as “the band member with the second coolest name”) shreds away at a blistering rate, laying down a filthy riff that juuuust barely keeps up with Gaddur’s crashing drums. Short & sweet, if I dare call it that, Sexo & Muerte is a wildly evil ride.
At heart Sexo & Muerte is fairly basic black/death, but that doesn’t change the simple fact that I’ve had this beast on repeat for an hour. Absolutely effective i getting this lowly reviewer excited for the full EP. Don’t miss out.
RATING: 3.5/5. Recommended!
I’d also like to give a heartfelt thank you to @indymetal, who have been introducing me to a whole lot of excellent music in the past year. Go check ‘em out.
