Bulk shopping is my new favourite thing!! Today I headed to my local @bininndinsdale which I had only been in once before. I had my grocery list with me so I was on a mission to get as much from this shop as I could before heading over to the supermarket. The staff were very friendly and made sure I was ok. I explained I was a bulk food virgin and was just going to browse around first too see what was there. I only found plastic bags to put the food into so I asked if they had any paper bags. After being showed where they are kept I started quickly filling them up with the items off my list. With each paper bag I filled I realised just how much unnecessary plastic wrapping we bring home from the supermarket. And what's even more exciting is the other discovery I made...they stock bulk @ecostorenz 😍 now I can take my existing ecostore bottles with me and refill them. It was actually quite sad how excited I got about this 😏 I definitely recommend you pop into your local bulk foods store and check it out. You may love it just as much as I did. I walked out of that store with my head held high knowing that I am another step closer to being wastefree 😊 when I got home everything was transferred into a container or the jars I have been saving. The paper bags we folded up ready to use again on my next trip to Bin Inn.
Plastic Free Feb day 24.
No matter if you live in an apartment or a house, this will make your heart smile to do!
Growing your own herbs and veggies is something we have posted about before but there are some amazing solutions on how to do so with no plastic!! Use newspaper, egg cartons and 1/2 lemons to grow your seedlings in. See full info video on Mysan Yoga Facebook page. Grow your no little seedlings on a windowsill, balcony or to grow in your garden. When they have grown a little bigger plant into pots or straight into garden. We loooove the feel, smell and taste of home grown goodies!! So easy! So go crazy friends, get herbs and green leaves sprouting!!! No lasting needed!! Winning!!! Mysan x
Had a particularly beautiful beach clean this afternoon, picked up so many colourful micro plastics that were tangled through bubbly blue bottles, it felt like finding treasure. A stranger stopped to tell me his heart filled with joy watching me fill my bag, what a nice thing to say, and he was inspired to pick some up as well 🐚
Can wait to have my stall at #noosamarinamarket tomorrow. I have created straw packs.
One through to six straws, one cleaner brush in each and a choice of adding a gift/storage bag. Or just buy a single straw.
such a wonderful opportunity to promote and provide an alternative to single use plastic straws. .
Really happy to be associated with #plastic freenoosa
Plus all my existing customers.
What a wonderful #plasticfree journey to be on......
Okay, I want to talk about plastic waste for just a second!! Something I use and never even thought about being plastic - my toothbrush! We all have one and we replace them multiple times a year, so that adds up. I recently came across bamboo toothbrushes as a solution. I did a little research and read some reviews and this brand was one of the top ranked choices, next to Brush with Bamboo. I got this pack of #Wowe bamboo toothbrushes on Amazon for $11.99 plus prime free shipping. The box is made of recycled materials and it comes with 4 brushes, which are supposed to last me a whole year. They're also numbered so if you want to hand them out to the family, you can know who's is who's. The brush is made completely of bamboo and is biodegradable. The bristles are BPA free and I'm actually really happy with their stiffness and the size and all of that. I actually like it better than my previous toothbrush. If you want to make them last even longer, use them for cleaning when you're done using them for your mouth. Next post will be on DIY/no-waste toothpaste... which I should have shared with you guys a long time ago 😬 sorry! 😘 #notanad
P.S. there are also kid versions!!
Good morning world. It’s 5.30am and I’ve been up for an hour, isn’t parenting the best?! 😐 There is so much amazing traction out there right now for the #plasticfree revolution and we are so excited here to see so many of you jumping on board. Yes, my house is full of transformers, no, I don’t think wooden or recycled plastic versions exist (yet- idea copyright!!) but what small steps can everyone make to reduce their plastic use at home? For us we were so happy to start using @oogaababy for our kids mealtimes (pictured) all made from the highest grade silicone and free from nasty chemicals. We have said farewell to cling film and hello to sustainable, reusable @beeswrap and goodbye plastic bottles and hello to @lifefactory baby bottles, drinking bottles and glass food storage too. Finally, we love @thehumble.co toothbrushes which do good for those in need and are biodegradable, so good for the planet too. Cool, right? And there’s more to come here at Little Green Home so stick with us and we’ll bring you some of the best and most stylish plastic free alternatives from all over the 🌎 x
Thanks for this brilliant pic @piccoloplates 💚
Please don't litter.🙈I went for a walk with my dog this morning and decided to pick up all the junk I saw. I came to back with a bag full of plastics and paper. It was only 800 meters of walking. Your streets may look clean but I bet they are not. Do your part and save this planet🌍 don't use plastic straws and get everyone else to join in 👩❤️👨 #nomoreplastic#save#plastic#planetearth#environment

El shampoo en barra te dura hasta 4 meses y dejará tu cabello 🧖🏾♀️ y el mundo 🌎 limpio. #zerowastemx#zerowaste#ceroplastico#shampooenbarra#nomoreplastic
I tried to resist purchasing these produce bags and just use my own. Obviously I caved, but I love them so much I don’t even regret it! They are great for produce sold by weight since you can see through them. Also so easy to toss one in your purse or car so they are on hand for shopping trips! I’m counting down the days until spring and #farmersmarket time! #zerowasteliving#zerowastejourney#stepbystep#fruits#nomoreplastic
Flannel is such a great substitute for paper towels. These are a similar weight and absorbency to paper towels, but they are stronger, softer, and can be used over and over. You can even roll them up on a roll to store like regular paper towel and they will stick to each other, without the need for plastic snaps. Like magic!
Not a very pretty picture, but trash is never pretty, especially when it's laying all over the ground where my son goes to play. I tidy up my local park about once a week, and there's always more next time I go back. Plastic like this gets washed into local waterways (just a stone's throw away at this park) after which it flows to the ocean to be eaten by fish and birds, join one of the Texas sized trash islands (look up the Pacific trash vortex, I dare you), or to be washed up on a beach as someone else's problem. Learning about the impact of plastic waste on our oceans and wildlife was what started me on my zero waste journey. It's a serious problem, to put it mildly, but it's one I was unaware of until enough regular citizens started talking about it in force. I so appreciate each and every person who has made time to raise awareness of this issue, and to encourage others to consider a lifestyle change, and I'm happy to join their ranks.
Single use plastic has a price, and we're starting to pay it. Our children will pay it. Our grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren will pay for it. It will just keep going down the line as long as we choose plastic. That's too high of a price for me, so I'm making a change.
