One of the freed Dapchi schoolgirls, Fatsuma, yesterday said overcrowded vehicles and stampede led to the death of five of them.
She told her father via telephone in Hausa Language in Maiduguri on how they survived the 30-day captivity.
In her words: “Good morning my father. My name is Fatsuma. I thanked God that we have been released by Boko Haram. Five of our colleagues, including Aisha and Maimuna, died in transit between where we were held captive and our school in Dapchi. “My school mates died because of overcrowding and stampede in the Nissan vehicles we were being transported and dropped outside the college premises.” Source: STRINGER / AFP
Now I received the other two statues that complete the Fakeye trio. Bought them from a private collector, who does not know anything about their origin, I think all pieces seem to be originals from the Yoruba woodcarver family Fakeye, see the Instagram account below. The right one looks like a female Shango with Shere and Oshe, the left one - who is it? Looks like the figure has a rope in its right hand, or a walking stick, also one leg is carved with ornaments - maybe it is Osanyin with a wooden leg? in the left hand it carries an Akuko, containers on its head and around the neck. In the middle is Eshu Elegba. Both figures on the sides are signed Gani.Fakeye, the one in the middle A. Fakeye @thefakeyeyorubaartdynasty @obatala_efunwale .

Regrann from @haceyhealth - As we mark the World Water Day, let us remember that in many communities, Taiwo's story is not unique. Water-borne diseases like #diarrhoea , #typhoid and #cholera are a leading cause of #ChildMortality and general illhealth, causing school children to miss school and adults miss work.
The Clean Water Initiative, a project of HACEY Health Initiative supported by ACT Foundation implemented Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) interventions in 15 underserved communities in Lagos and Ogun States, Nigeria. The Initiative provided boreholes in these communities and also mobilized these communities to take action towards reducing the incidence of and prevalence of water borne diseases. #waterday#SafeWater#WASH#Water#Nigeria#Women#children

#THROWBACK#ValentineEwudo (@valewudo) is an example of a positive minded individual that many can learn from. In the course of his life journey, this dapper looking and proud igbo man was able to turn a huge challenge he faced into a great opportunity which he is thankful for today. In his interview you will find hope, motivation, strength and the mindset you need to turn your weakness, and challenges and shames into opportunities.
Now sit back, as there’s a lot to learn, take a chill pill and read along….. QUESTION: Great to have you here Valentine Ewudo, let’s start on a lighter note… Share with us a brief biography of you; family, ethnicity and education.
ANSWER: It’s amazing joining you here as well. Am a Nigerian from Anambra State, born and brought up in Los Angeles. Though I left for Nigeria when I was thirteen years old, to attend an amazing boarding school called Gaius Benton at Oko, Anambra from JSS2 to SS2. It was a well spent period and I must say am a proud Igbo man.
I came back to Los Angeles for my senior year in high school. After graduation I was admitted into Calfornia State University in Los Angeles where I studied Nursing and graduated with Bachelor of Science in Nursing. While in the University as part of my extracurricular activities, I was the president of three organisations, and I ran them successfully. I also joined a black fraternity called Alpha Phi Alpha Fratenity Inc , which am very proud of. Our mission is to develop leaders, promote brotherhood and academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy for our community. A lot Nigerians are part of it here too. That’s a brief history of my school life.
Moving on, not too long after graduating from the university, I started working, but interestingly six months into my first job, I was laid off . Guess what? Instead of killing my vibes, it triggered it and led me into a health management business. As disappointing as it was back then, believe me, it’s the best thing that has ever happened to me.

This evening we were watching the sunset at Jabi Lake, Abuja. This video was shot with no filters at all, it was just beautiful!
The lake is home to the Jabi Mall on one side of it, and Jabi park on the other side. Jabi park has on it all sorts of games (table tennis, table soccer, football, snooker, badminton, football, etc) horse rides, lots of palm trees for shade and picnic (more like a lovers den) and of course suya. While the mall is the most beautiful in all of Abuja.
It's the perfect place for relaxation. 🎥: @yolarng
Regrann from @bibiiremusings - Apparently, one of the Dapchi girls was not released because of her faith. She was held back because she is a Christian according to an eye witness account which is this young girl, who was also kidnapped and released alongside others. We do not want to imagine what she would be going through in the hands of those assailants right now. It is so painful to imagine. We can only pray she is found and God's grace abides with her in that lion's den. .
