Hooker Valley Track ❄👌 #NewZealand#HookerValley#MountCookNationalPark
Honest little sidenote here (not necessarily about this track - I knew it was going to be busy!) I found New Zealand enchanting in some ways, jaw-droppingly beautiful at times and I absolutely loved camping amidst its pretty nature - luckily we found some beautiful and quiet DOC camps - but, I also found it very touristic, very... neat, very... 'within the edges' - if that makes sense. All those tourists (which is everywhere nowadays and I know there are still off-the-beaten places but still, it was so busy) and rules (why did we rent a 4wd if we aren't allowed to drive anywhere?) and camera tourist road signs and meddling people and well... I had a wonderful time but it didn't touch me as much as I was hoping for. It was a combination of everything. I guess I'm way more of a culture-shock loving kinda girl, a let's-get-lost person, a profound animal lover (not that much to see here) and a raw, wild & free traveler. 🌲
Luckily we still found some beautiful quiet areas (Mt. Potts, Lake Malvoras, Lake Marian) and even in Milford Sound we had an unforgettable and different experience (an overnight stay on a boat with just 9 rooms while all tourists where gone) so all my tips and hidden gems will follow ♡
Anything wrong with me? What do you think? 🍃
The Emerald Lakes of the Tasman Glacier Walk. Each lake, a slightly different shade of green and as magnificent as the last.
It's a walk not many people do, but if you have a bit of time to explore around, it is definitely worth it!
Track to Mueller Hut was one of the best experience of my life, bit challenging, but definitely worth it(: + it was a good celebration to my new visa for next 3 years (: #mountcooknationalpark#muellerhut
When we arrived, Mueller hut was swathed in cloud - we hadn't seen anything for the last hour or so of the hike. We met the hut warden @lwelch.x at the steps and he quickly turned us around and led us a couple hundred metres up to the false peak of Mt Ollivier, above the inversion layer, where we marvelled at the mountains and watched the cloud disperse, offering us a clear night sky and the best view of the milky way I've ever been gifted ☄
